Accountant / Financial Reporting Analyst

Baird's Corporate Finance and Accounting team is critical to the continued success of Baird through providing accurate and timely financial information to aid in managing the firm and to support strategic decision making. The Finance Reporting team manages the monthly financial close process and the presentation and distribution of external and internal financial statements. The team also manages the firm's corporate audit and financial regulatory exams, prepares regulatory reports filed with the SEC and FINRA, and is responsible for maintaining the firm's key accounting policies. The Financial Reporting Analyst supports the overall function through significant involvement in the financial close process, cash collections and reporting of financial results

This is an entry level accounting position with the ideal candidate having eligibility to sit for and obtain their CPA license within one year of hire. We are seeking a highly motivated, detail oriented individual who is eager to learn, proactive and ready to contribute to Baird's success.

As a Financial Reporting Analyst, you will:
  • Financial Close: Actively involved in the financial close process including preparing calculations, gathering and reconciling key source data for proper revenue and expense recognition and making all necessary journal entries including accruals, allocations, reclassifications and journal vouchers
  • Controls: Prepares general ledger account reconciliations, maintains and keeps current key process documentation and assists in the preparation of audit and regulatory requests
  • Systems expertise: Closes BETA subledger to the general ledger on a monthly basis. Investigates and resolves mapping and trade errors within the BETA system to ensure our financials properly reflect all subledger activity
  • Periodic Reporting: Prepares Investment Banking project workbooks, and firm-level surveys including: CFO, SIFMA, US Census, Bureau of Economic Analysis and others
  • Leases: Performs all necessary activities to capture and process transactions into the lease accounting module, ensuring required entries have been recorded and accounts reconciled. Prepares schedules and provides information to Tax, Facilities and Business Units
  • Special Projects: Participates in key team-wide or department-wide initiatives to improve overall performance and support strategic initiatives

What we look for:
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting with 1-2 years prior accounting experience required What we look for:
  • CPA licensed or meets requirements with desire to obtain within one year of hire
