Duties and Responsibilities:
- Delivers patient care to patients on the unit
- Provide/documents observed self-administration of medications to residential level of care patients.
- Report patient concerns/needs to charge nurse and/or medical provider.
- Assist to collect and process detox and residential patient UA/UDS or other ordered tests as directed by charge nurse.
- Assist with patient appointment scheduling for medical providers.
- Makes scheduled rounds on the unit assuring the whereabouts and status of the patients.
- Assists patients in their whirlpool treatments.
- Performs the on-person search of patient and documents the findings in the appropriate places.
- Performs chart audits.
- Ensures patient care equipment is in clean, working condition and in the appropriate places and keeps patient care areas clear of obstructions and in an organized manner.
- Assists in the admission, transfer and discharge of patients as directed by the nurse.
- Works a flexible schedule based upon service demands
- Maintains quality control logs following OSHA and HIPAA regulations.
- Responsible for scheduling patient appointments to include transportation requests.
- Prepares patients for examination: height/weight, vitals that include BP, pulse and respirations.
- Assists with clerical duties as needed.

- Lifting: up to 50 pounds on occasion.
- Standing: up to several hours at a time, which may include walking, climbing steps, and descending.
- Walking: must be able to ambulate throughout the assigned facilities on campus or Caron properties.
- Sitting: up to several hours at a time for data entry into the computer or medical record documentation.
- Driving: Must be able to drive a 15-passenger van or car to and from various activities
EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE QUALIFICATIONS:
- Current certification as a C.N.A.
- Previous experience working as C.N.A. in hospital or long-term care facility
- Current CPR/First Aid training/certification.
- Two years continuous sobriety preferred if in recovery.
- Previous experience in a hospital/chemical dependency rehabilitation treatment program preferred.
- 21 years of age or older is required
- Requires a current, valid, unrestricted driver’s license
