Physical Requirements
Lifting, pushing, pulling up to 50 lbs., sitting for extended periods of time; including sitting at computer workstation. Occasional risk of injuries from use of equipment on the job, loud noises, temperature extremes, hazardous chemicals and fumes including waste, burns, cuts/punctures, combative/violent people, and animal handling (including carcasses).
Shift
Primarily Monday – Friday 8:00 am – 5:00 pm, with occasional travel and extended hours as needed.
Job Summary
The Emergency Management Director will coordinate with the Crisis Management and Preparedness (CMP), Central Information Sharing and Threat Analysis Center (CITAC), the Center for Disaster Recovery and Resilience (CDRR), and UKPD Operations units to align and reinforce preparedness and resiliency efforts at the University of Kentucky and remote properties.
The major job responsibilities of this position are Information and Physical Assessments, Documentation & Recovery Assistance, Planning, Retrospective Analysis, and Process Improvement, and Supervision and Management.
Specific duties include developing and revising the university’s campus emergency operation plan, development of after-action reports, and leading the emergency operations center during events and incidents. This potion will collaborate with CITAC in gathering threats, gaps, and vulnerability assessments that affect the safety and security of students, faculty, staff, patients, and visitors as needed. This position will collaborate with CDRR to develop templates, ICS resource and recovery documentation, and other tools to monitor and track response and recovery of incidents. This position will also collaborate with UKPD leadership and federal entities in the management of natural, technological, or human-caused disasters, and other emergencies.
There is an internal employee being considered for this position (IEBC).
Skills / Knowledge / Abilities
This position will require candidates to take a polygraph examination as part of the University Police Department’s employment process.

Master’s Degree and PMP Certification preferred but not required.
