Baird's Equity Capital Markets group includes more than 500 professionals in research, institutional sales and trading, and investment banking. The Equity Supervision Analyst is a critical role within the Institutional Trading Department. Working with a wide variety of people while working independently, the Analyst conducts complex supervisory reviews, including analysis of daily trading data. Being intellectually curious, this position requires knowledge of the regulatory and industry complexities for Institutional Trading and the ability to quickly execute in a fast-paced environment.

As part of the trading desk, this position requires the hours of 6am - 3:30 CT.

As an Equity Supervision Analyst, you will:
  • Assist in the general supervision of the Equity sales & trading department as delegated by department leadership
  • Obtain and maintain a detailed understanding of department policies & procedures, supervisory procedures, and business workflows
  • Serve as a resource / subject matter expert for department associates
  • Liaise with compliance to develop and implement written supervisory procedures, resolve regulatory issues, and respond to inquiries
  • Work with trading support to implement workflows and systems configurations that comply with department policies
  • Work closely with, back up and escalate issues to Equity Trading Supervision Officer or COO
  • Serve as approver for real time requests (e.g., content preapproval, new account approvals, employee trading approval) and perform periodic supervisory reviews as needed.

What we look for:
  • Bachelor's degree in finance, economics, accounting or business
  • Two years or more of experience in an analyst or related position. Experience in front, middle, and/or back office trading functions strongly preferred
  • Strong interest in and understanding of institutional equities business and equity trading
  • Licensure or willingness and ability to obtain (Series 7, 63, 24, 4). Licensure will be required to fully function in this role
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills with the ability to handle a large volume of assignments and work well under pressure
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, SharePoint)
  • Experience working with Bloomberg and trading or financial software a strong plus
  • Exceptional Excel skills combined with data analytics experience - ability to work with large data sets and then provided detailed analysis and reporting
  • Strong communication skills including ability to communicate with senior management.
  • Ability to work well and thrive in a team-oriented environment
  • Possess strong work ethic, motivated and a self-starter with a focus on details and meeting strict deadlines
