As the assistant operations manager (AOM), you will maintain the facilities' efficiency and good working conditions. Other responsibilities include assuring adequate staffing numbers on duty, assuring equipment is checked out properly and that the equipment is in good working order, evaluating and moving problem reports to the proper person, entering faculty requests into the checkout system, and maintaining the database. It is your responsibility to print and review kits for the next day. 

The AOM will help supervise and train staff on equipment checkout and will monitor equipment storage, usage, and repairs. Additionally, the AOM will import assets into the WCS, properly formatted. As the AOM you will be responsible for signing overnight equipment approval for students and arranging for barcodes for equipment in circulation. An important aspect of this job is assuring equipment is stored and transported correctly to and from engineering when in need of repair. The inventory of new equipment and preparation for usage while inspecting studio spaces for readiness is vital. The assistant operations manage is expected to monitor student films on location for proper safety procedures and must conduct inventory checks for equipment prior to each quarter.  

Minimum Qualifications:  

  • Two years of experience in a film/video production company or working in an equipment-rental facility 
  • Team leadership skills based on work with groups that require same goal outcomes 
  • Good oral and written communication skills with excellent planning, organizing, time-, and work-management abilities 
  • Ability to efficiently lead, delegate, and motivate subordinates under tight deadlines 
  • Confidence, tact, patience, and diplomacy while dealing with complex situations 

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor’s degree or three years of college and one year of related experience 

Travel Required: Less than 10% 

Work Hours: The university work week is Sunday through Saturday. Most offices are open Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. In order to accommodate business needs, employees may be assigned to other workdays and/or hours, including weekends and evenings.
