Job Overview
We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled Director of Photography (DP) & Editor to manage the visual storytelling process from concept to completion. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in both cinematography and video editing, with proficiency in color grading, camera operation, and post-production workflows. This hybrid role requires someone who can work creatively on set to capture stunning visuals, and also expertly craft and enhance footage during the editing phase. The Director of Photography & Editor will collaborate with a diverse, global team and may be required to travel for shoots and production support. Candidates should be technically curious, actively exploring AI technologies and the opportunities they provide to enhance creativity, efficiency, and innovation in marketing video production.

Key Responsibilities
Cinematography (On-Set Camera Work):
- Oversee the visual aspects of video production, including shot composition, lighting, camera operation, and framing.
- Work closely with the director and creative team to bring the visual style of a project to life, adhering to creative vision and project goals.
- Maintaining a library of footage and templates.
- Ensure optimal use of camera equipment (e.g., RED, ARRI, or similar) and lenses, adjusting settings for ideal exposure, color balance, and focus.
- Manage lighting setups, determining the appropriate lighting rigs, modifiers, and setups to achieve desired mood and aesthetic.
- Troubleshoot technical issues on set with cameras, lighting, and other equipment to ensure seamless production.
- Collaborate with talent and crew to achieve the best possible shots while maintaining a safe and efficient working environment.
- Work with third-party vendors and agencies to coach them on best practices and following SUSE’s brand guidelines.
Video Editing & Post-Production:
- Edit raw footage into cohesive and compelling narratives, aligning with the director's vision and the overall project objectives.
- Proficiently edit using software such as Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro, or Avid, ensuring the highest standard of editing and storytelling.
- Perform color grading and correction using software like DaVinci Resolve to achieve a polished, cinematic look, ensuring visual consistency across the project.
- Manage all post-production processes, including audio mixing, sound design, and visual effects, collaborating with sound engineers and VFX artists as needed.
- Organize and maintain media assets, edit timelines, and final outputs in a structured and efficient manner to ensure smooth workflow.
- Ensure that final deliverables meet the required technical specifications for different platforms (e.g., web, broadcast, social media, etc.).
- Review rough cuts and provide feedback on edits, ensuring quality and consistency across the entire project.
Collaboration with Global Stakeholders:
- Work closely with global teams and stakeholders, ensuring the project vision is aligned across all departments and locations.
- Participate in regular meetings with directors, producers, and other key stakeholders to review project status, share progress, and implement feedback.
- Provide guidance and support to other production team members regarding visual style, technical specs, and editing workflow.
- Ensure communication and project deliverables are aligned with timelines and expectations, especially when managing cross-functional teams from different regions.
Travel & On-Set Support:
- Travel as required for on-location shoots, including domestic and international travel, to support production teams.
- Assist in setting up and managing on-location shoots, including managing camera setups, lighting rigs, and any post-production assets.
- Handle logistics and equipment needs while on location, ensuring smooth operations and a high standard of visual content.
- Coordinate with local teams and production assistants to ensure all equipment, crew, and resources are in place for a successful shoot.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience as a Director of Photography and Video Editor in a professional setting, with a strong portfolio showcasing both camera work and edited projects.
- Expertise in camera operation and equipment (e.g., RED, ARRI, Canon, etc.), with a thorough understanding of cinematography principles, lighting techniques, and framing.
- Proficiency in video editing software such as Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro, or Avid, as well as color grading software like DaVinci Resolve or similar.
- Strong storytelling abilities with a keen eye for visual composition, pacing, and narrative flow.
- Ability to work under tight deadlines and manage multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining the highest quality standards.
- Solid understanding of the post-production pipeline, including syncing footage, editing, color grading, sound design, and visual effects.
- Experience working with global teams, managing projects across different time zones, and understanding cultural nuances.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with creative teams, directors, producers, and other stakeholders.
- Ability to travel domestically and internationally as required for on-location shoots and production support.
Nice to Haves:
- Familiarity with visual effects (VFX) or motion graphics design is a plus.
- Experience working on high-budget productions or with large-scale teams.
- Knowledge of social media video formats and understanding the requirements for different platforms (e.g., YouTube, Instagram, TikTok).
- Project management skills, especially in overseeing post-production schedules and coordinating with other departments.
