Qualifications:
- Licensed registered nurse, or
- Training and experience in health services administration with at least two (2) years of supervisory or administrative experience in hospice or related health programs such as long-term care, within the last 5 years.
- Operational knowledge of the Virginia Hospice Regulations and the Medicare Conditions of Participation.
- Strong organizational and communication skills.
- Ability to manage high levels of stress effectively.
- Proven capability to engage and collaborate with a diverse group of people to further the hospice program.
Responsibilities:
- Lead and oversee the administrative functions of the hospice program.
- Ensure the provision of high-quality care and services through planning, directing, and evaluating operations.
- Maintain an ongoing liaison among the Governing Body, professional personnel, and staff.
- Recruit, orient, train, educate, and evaluate qualified personnel.
- Ensure accuracy in public information materials and activities.
- Implement and manage effective budgeting and accounting systems.
- Maintain compliance with laws and regulations and respond to reports from hospice program committees and regulatory agencies.
- Supervise clinical and administrative staff.
- Negotiate and manage contracts, ensuring all provisions are met.
- Assess employees’ understanding of policies and procedures continuously.
- Foster open communication and fair administration of personnel policies.
- Market the Hospice House in the community to drive utilization by providers.
- Develop and maintain relationships with key referral sources to generate and sustain new referrals.
- Stay informed about local trends and issues, sharing relevant information with staff.
- Promote staff development, including orientation, inservice education, and continuing education.
- Oversee the IPU Quality Assurance/Performance Improvement Program.
- Coordinate with other program areas and management as necessary.
- Model and adhere to the HHHR code of ethical behavior, exemplifying our core values of respect, passion, and professionalism.
- Ensure regular attendance and punctuality, fulfilling job requirements diligently.
- Promote and market the HHHR.
- Coordinate the admissions and discharge of hospice patients with the clinical team.
- Obtain and track customer service feedback for quality improvement opportunities.
- Collaborate closely with hospital discharge planners, physicians, and hospice agencies to establish compliant admissions and care processes.
- Perform all other assigned duties.
Job Conditions:
- Be available during operating hours and for emergencies.
- Participate in physical activity and work for extended periods while standing.
- Perform moderate lifting and extensive bending, lifting, and standing regularly.
Orientation and Training: The Dozoretz Hospice House of Hampton Roads will provide necessary orientation and training to assist the IPU Director in performing their responsibilities. Training may be in-house or through outside seminars. Evidence of orientation and training will be recorded in the personnel file.
Accountability:
- Reports directly to the IPU Executive Director.
- Collaborates with all members of the Interdisciplinary Team.

The Dozoretz Hospice Hospice House of Hampton Roads is a 12 bed Inpatient Hospice facility opening in the Spring of 2024. Beth Sholom and Westminster Canterbury on Chesapeake Bay have partnered to operate and manage the house.
