Howmet Aerospace is currently looking a Group Leader over Metal Workcell to join our Dover Casting group in Dover, New Jersey. The work hours for this Afternoon Shift are Monday to Friday 230PM-11PM Training is Monday - Friday - 1st shift.

This position will receive an hourly "shift premium" while assigned to an off-shift.

JOB SUMMARY

Under the direction of the Area Supervisor/Manager, this position oversees daily operations for the manufacturing areas of the assigned department during the assigned shift.  The Group Leader is expected to train and assist operators in the department as well as schedule labor and participate/lead continuous improvement project.  They will also troubleshoot and communicate product and employee problems to supervisor as well as work in other departments base on production needs.

ENVIRONMENTAL HEALTH & SAFETY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Expected to assist in the implementation of Howmet Aerospace’s EHS value and policy statement and its accompanying principles;
  • Comply with all department, facility, Corporate and Regulatory EH&S regulations.
  • Wear all required personal protective equipment;
  • Report all job-related illness and injuries. (Per employee handbook);
  • Report all Safety, Health & Environmental concerns to your supervisor in a timely manner;
  • Attend all EH&S training.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

Essential Job Functions
  • Schedules work for department
  • Coordinate with Production Planner and other supervisors to ensure customer schedules are met
  • Acts as a change agent/leader for new initiatives in department
  • Assist with implementing methods for quality and cost improvements;
  • Ensure NES/hourly reports in respective area/shift complete all necessary training;
  • Ensure New to the Job (NTJ) requirements are met for reports in respective area/shift;
  • Manage respective area/shift NES/hourly reports in Time & Attendance System;
  • Participate in the performance appraisals of hourly reports in respective area/shift by providing Area Supervisor with ratings and feedback;
  • Recognize and ensure timely communication of any safety, quality, productivity, and employee concerns to supervision;
  • Schedule department coordinating with other manufacturing areas to ensure customer schedules are met;
  • Ensure quality and productivity standards are maintained/exceeded;
  • Ensure fair and consistent enforcement of all company policies and procedures;
  • Actively work to develop and implement Synchronous Manufacturing;
  • Must actively participate in seminars and training in supervision, communications, and ongoing improvement programs (ABS, IPC, IPM, EH&S, Synchronous Mfg.)
  • Perform other duties as might be assigned by supervision.

Other Skills/Abilities
  • As part of training, must learn the operation of the assigned department
  • Results oriented, able to take initiative and demonstrate strong leadership skills;
  • Must have strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work flexible hours from time to time with little advance notice.


BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
  • This position entails access to export-controlled items and employment offers are conditioned upon an applicant's ability to lawfully obtain access to such items.
  • ​Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
  • High School diploma or GED from an accredited institution;
  • No relocation benefit is offered for this position.  Candidates residing within a 50 miles radius of Dover NJ will only be considered.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Prefer supervisory experience and/or departmental knowledge.
  • Prefer shop floor experience and strong knowledge of department operational and working procedures, outside leadership experience also helpful.
  • Seminars and training in supervision, communications, and ongoing improvement programs is a plus.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS/EQUIPMENT USED
  • This job requires occasional lifting of up to 25 pounds and frequent standing
  • The group leader works in a shop floor environment.
