Our Maintenance Technician Internship program is tailored for community college students pursuing certificates or associate degrees. This program provides practical, real-world experience in advanced automation and robotics. Interns will gain invaluable technical skills, work with cutting-edge equipment, and contribute to groundbreaking solutions in dynamic warehouse environments.
What you'll do
- Prioritize safety by following OSHA, Symbotic, and customer safety protocols and procedures.
- Inspect and maintain components of the Automated Storage and Retrieval System, including robotic vehicles and automated adapters/lifts.
- Support system operations by troubleshooting and adjusting components to ensure smooth performance.
- Monitor automated system workflows, including inbound and outbound operations, to achieve maximum efficiency.
- Diagnose and resolve issues in robotic systems using schematic diagrams, wiring plans, and advanced testing tools.
- Perform periodic inspections and document maintenance activities in the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
- Maintain a clean and organized workspace in line with 5S principles.
- Recover and recalibrate robotic vehicles within restrictive environments when necessary.
- Complete minor utility tasks such as fabricating brackets, cutting materials, and aligning sensors.
- Troubleshoot, calibrate, and set up robotic arms for optimal functionality.
What you'll need
- Pursuing a certificate or associate degree in manufacturing, engineering, industrial automation, electronics technology, or a related field.
- Strong communication skills to effectively report issues and suggest actions to the team.
- Ability to adapt in a fast-paced, dynamic work environment.
- Curiosity and eagerness to learn, troubleshoot, and solve problems.
Our Environment
- Approximately 75% of time will be spent on a construction site with PPE required (hard hat, safety vest, steel toes, eyeglasses, ear protection, fall protection (e.g., safety harness).
- There will be steep stairs to climb into the structure. You may be required to routinely walk up and down stairs to navigate the automation structure.
- You will regularly be near railings that are high off the ground.
- Subject to environmental conditions, protection from weather conditions but not necessarily temperature changes. Must be capable of working in temperatures ranging from 105° to 32° Fahrenheit.
