The Summer Intern session is a 12-week,full-time (40 hours Monday-Friday) program while the Co-op cohorts typically run 16-weeks in the Spring and Fall. In both programs, students are paid a competitive hourly rate. Continue reading to learn more about this exciting opportunity!

Our Maintenance Technician Internship program is tailored for community college students pursuing certificates or associate degrees. This program provides practical, real-world experience in advanced automation and robotics. Interns will gain invaluable technical skills, work with cutting-edge equipment, and contribute to groundbreaking solutions in dynamic warehouse environments.

What you'll do

  • Prioritize safety by following OSHA, Symbotic, and customer safety protocols and procedures.
  • Inspect and maintain components of the Automated Storage and Retrieval System, including robotic vehicles and automated adapters/lifts.
  • Support system operations by troubleshooting and adjusting components to ensure smooth performance.
  • Monitor automated system workflows, including inbound and outbound operations, to achieve maximum efficiency.
  • Diagnose and resolve issues in robotic systems using schematic diagrams, wiring plans, and advanced testing tools.
  • Perform periodic inspections and document maintenance activities in the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
  • Maintain a clean and organized workspace in line with 5S principles.
  • Recover and recalibrate robotic vehicles within restrictive environments when necessary.
  • Complete minor utility tasks such as fabricating brackets, cutting materials, and aligning sensors.
  • Troubleshoot, calibrate, and set up robotic arms for optimal functionality.

What you'll need

  • Pursuing a certificate or associate degree in manufacturing, engineering, industrial automation, electronics technology, or a related field.
  • Strong communication skills to effectively report issues and suggest actions to the team.
  • Ability to adapt in a fast-paced, dynamic work environment.
  • Curiosity and eagerness to learn, troubleshoot, and solve problems.

Our Environment   

  • Approximately 75% of time will be spent on a construction site with PPE required (hard hat, safety vest, steel toes, eyeglasses, ear protection, fall protection (e.g., safety harness).
  • There will be steep stairs to climb into the structure. You may be required to routinely walk up and down stairs to navigate the automation structure.
  • You will regularly be near railings that are high off the ground.
  • Subject to environmental conditions, protection from weather conditions but not necessarily temperature changes. Must be capable of working in temperatures ranging from 105° to 32° Fahrenheit.
