Become an IT Solutions Planning - Grid Solutions Portfolio, Senior Advisor at Southern California Edison (SCE) and build a better tomorrow. In this job, you’ll lead the IT Grid Technology Planning efforts for projects that will transform and modernize SCE’s electric grid.

Key Focus of Role 

  • Technology Planning: Leads activities for development, implementation, and coordination of all technology planning activities by guiding the following activities: business capability planning, identification of business outcomes and objectives, requirements solicitation, business case development, process analysis and solution planning. 
  • Technology Strategy: Maintains the strategic view of the business, technology outcomes and how the technology initiative delivers on those outcomes.  Prioritizes across the enterprise to ensure the highest-valued investments are sourced and completed. Helps to identify demand conflicts and recommends escalation of conflicts, where appropriate for resolution.  
  • Technology Liaison: Acts as the primary connection between IT planning and the business. Proactively advises business clients on IT services and technologies by delivering clear, relevant, and timely planning communications to those clients.

Responsibilities

  • Guides business capability long-range planning, identification of business outcomes and objectives, requirements solicitation, business case development, process analysis, solution planning
  • Leads activities for development, implementation, and coordination of a portfolio of technology planning activities to include new demand, delivery, and support
  • Solicits requirements from stakeholders for technology planning initiatives, sourcing and ensuring completion of high-value technology investments
  • Analyzes processes and plans solutions to address business needs; develops business cases for new initiatives and technology investments
  • Optimizes IT demand by recommending opportunities for Value Stream bundling, identifying conflicts,  and recommends escalation for resolution where appropriate
  • Maintains the strategic view of the business, technology outcomes, continuously clarifies how the technology initiative delivers on those outcomes, how they will be supported, and what are considerations for total cost of ownership
  • Provides input to and/or approve project documentation including project charter, business requirements document, test plans, and other delivery/execution deliverables
  • Analyzes and makes recommendations on plans of action for potential new demand from various sources (e.g.: Tech Consults, Business Partner Integration teams, etc.)
  • Provides input and guidance to IT and OU product owners regarding asset lifecycle including from inception to retirement
  • A material job duty of all positions within the Company is ensuring the protection of all its physical, financial and cybersecurity assets, and properly accessing and managing private customer data, proprietary information, confidential medical records, and other types of highly sensitive information and data with the highest standards of conduct and integrity.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Ten or more years of experience developing and implementing technology solution processes and plans to further the overall business strategy.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Business, Computing Information Systems, Computer Science, or relevant technical major. 
  • Ten or more years of experience working in Information Technology for an electric utility.
  • Ten or more years of experience leading projects or key business initiatives.
  • Seven or more years of IT portfolio and customer relationship management experience for an electric utility.
  • Seven or more years of experience developing strategic technology plans in support of key business objectives
  • Experience in Transmission & Distribution (T&D) management systems and advanced technologies

Additional Information 

  • This position’s work mode is hybrid. The employee will report to an SCE facility for a set number of days with the option to work remotely on the remaining days.  Unless otherwise noted, employees are required to work and reside in the state of California.  Further details of this work mode will be discussed at the interview stage. The work mode can be changed based on business needs.

  • The primary work location for this position is  Rosemead, CA However, the successful candidate may also be asked to work for an extended amount of time at other SCE facilities.
  • Position will require up to 10% traveling and being out in the field throughout the SCE service territory. 
  • This position has been identified as a NERC/CIP impacted position - Prior to being hired, the successful candidate must pass a Personnel Risk Assessment (PRA) or Background Investigation.  Once hired, the candidate must complete specified training prior to gaining un-escorted access to assigned work location and performing necessary job duties.
  • Relocation does not apply to this position.
