Position Summary
This position is responsible for acting as the link between senior management and the rest of the maintenance team by serving as the primary channel for the flow of information within our facility. A primary component of this position is to organize, prioritize, supervise, and direct both the work of mechanics and electricians in a union environment.
Role & Responsibilities
- Direct hourly bargaining unit Maintenance employees in all aspects of maintenance and repair; ensure proper assignments are given at the start of the shift and the shift is actively engaged and supporting the operation.
- Monitor line performance for all lines to ensure team is addressing issues to meet performance goals; ensure job quality by frequently checking jobs in progress.
- Work closely with the team to optimize changeovers and identify areas of opportunity.
- Identify and correct chronic and costly equipment problems and eliminate repetitive failures.
- Identify capability gaps and work with Management to develop training plans.
- Comply with and enforce all GMPs, safety and housekeeping standards.
- Communicate Maintenance work status between shifts.
- Collaborate with Management to utilize equipment to improve safety, production quality, equipment reliability and overall equipment effectiveness.
- Escalate safety issues, complete Incident Reports, and work with Management to mitigate safety risks.
- Manage time off requests, monitor overtime, train, coach, and discipline within the contractual parameters.
- Initiate and perform Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and Breakdown Elimination (BDE) problem solving.
- Create a positive working environment for all team members, supporting continuous improvement, TPM, reinforce company policy and procedures and treat every individual equally and with respect.
- Communicate effectively and timely with Management of all development and improvement opportunities.

Knowledge and Experience
- Highschool degree or equivalent plus 3-5 years of relevant work experience required
- Strong analytical and strategic thinking skills, including ability to formulate business strategy
- Outstanding oral and written skills with the ability to communicate complex ideas in a simple way when necessary.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with proven ability to develop, motivate and lead direct reports.
- Proven ability to manage multiple tasks and adapt to a changing, fast paced environment. Detail oriented with strong organization skills
- Self-motivated, able to make quick, calculated decisions, follow through with responsibilities and be accountable for results
