The Manager, Colleague Communications helps drive understanding of enterprise initiatives through rich, dynamic and multimedia storytelling. This role will work across all aspects of our newsroom, including: story-mining, editorial calendar management, content creation and amplification. Specifically, the Manager will craft narratives that support Colleagues’ understanding of, and engagement with, our mission, business priorities and progress. This role reports to the Director, Editorial, Colleague Communications.
How will you make an impact in this role?
- Develop a wide range of news and feature content for the company’s intranet, with primary responsibility for: product launches and refreshes; sponsorships and partnerships; business updates; industry recognition; international market spotlights; company history (supporting our Corporate Historian); colleague value proposition; people profiles; and global colleague event coverage.
- Craft Slack posts for our #companynews channel that both amplify intranet stories and help grow the channel with exclusive content.
- Lead the production of the company’s weekly newsletter, The Expressway.
- Help advance storytelling efforts by implementing new and creative approaches, including pitching ideas for original franchises and adopting best practices from consumer media.
- Support story-mining and brainstorming efforts within the Editorial team and across American Express.
- Assist managing the editorial calendar.
Minimum Qualifications
- Minimum of 5 years of demonstrated expertise in colleague communications programs.
- Excellent storyteller, with superior writing and editing skills.
- Ability to develop content across multimedia formats, including video.
- Ability to juggle multiple projects and comfortably work in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong collaboration skills, including the ability to work across multi-discipline teams.
- Strong creativity coupled with a highly proactive mindset, including promoting new ideas and approaches.
Preferred Qualifications
- Knowledge of publishing platforms and measurement tools.
- Communication experience with a large, global or financial services organization.
Salary Range: $80,000.00 to $155,000.00 annually + bonus + benefits
