This position will play an important role within the Line of Business Compliance organization supporting the Technology Business Unit.The position will provide support to Technology platforms while assisting in the build of an effective framework for compliance with applicable Global laws and regulations for Technology Platform fulfillment of American Express Lending, Banking, and Loyalty Products.
The successful candidate will contribute alongside a high-performing team to deliver an effective compliance risk management oversight program for the Technology business unit, as well as provide risk management advisory services to promote safe, scalable innovation across the portfolios.This is a visible and strategic position with regular interaction with a variety of teams in the 1st and 2nd line, as well as senior leaders across the company.
How will you make an impact in this role?
- Provide solution-oriented compliance support to assist the Technology business unit in achieving goals while meeting compliance requirements
- Provide timely decisions/review and effective compliance oversight of Technology Compliance Issues
- Maintain close partnership with Market Compliance Officers (MCOs) to promote safe and scalable regulatory change management across AXP’s global markets
- Support an effective Compliance program, including contribution to the Technology Compliance Plan (ACP), Compliance Risk Assessment (CRA), Business Unit Compliance Assessments (BUCA)
- Develop and maintain strong working relationships with business partners and internal stakeholders (e.g. other Global Risk and Compliance colleagues, General Counsel Office, Operational Excellence, Independent Compliance Testing, Privacy, Internal Audit Group)
- Support new initiatives through the New Product Approval (NPA) process and integration of effective controls, testing & ongoing monitoring for new and existing processes
- Oversee and maintain a robust control environment to monitor third-party risk
- Assist internal stakeholders with regulatory examination requests and support timely drafting of responses to regulatory findings
- Drive implementation of policy and regulatory requirements across relevant federal, state, and local regulations
Minimum Qualifications
- Ability to lead/coach a direct report (or multiple) through the Career Development and Performance Management processes
- Demonstrated regulatory knowledge of global financial regulations including experience with AML, Consumer Protection, and Privacy laws
- Ability to support and drive compliance discussions as part of Compliance Issue Management
- Strong technical acumen including knowledge of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC), Agile practices, and architectural frameworks/components/processes surrounding Technology application development & maintenance
- Ability to exercise sound judgment in the development and selection of compliant solutions
- Strong project management skills, ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously
- Demonstrated ability to make decisions independently, work well under pressure, meet deadlines, and adapt easily to frequent change
- Strong collaborative skills and experience leading and working in a matrixed and agile environment and on cross-functional teams
- Strong leadership, analytical, organizational track-record
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including ability to persuade and influence
- Proactive, results-oriented, and self-driven
- Creative and highly collaborative ability to solve business challenges
- Prior compliance, legal or risk experience required
- Bachelor's degree required
Salary Range: $90,000.00 to $165,000.00 annually + bonus + benefits
