About Network & Acquiring Solutions

As part of the Global Merchant & Network Services group (GMNS), the Network & Acquirer Solutions (NAS) team is at the core of American Express, uniquely positioned to support every business unit and customer across the Enterprise. The American Express Network enables over $1.6 trillion in annual spend, serving our Issuers and Acquirers in more than 170 markets worldwide. We are driving a strategic, multi-year Enterprise Payments program to bring all payments together into a center of excellence to drive operational excellence for payment execution, enable innovative payment products, services, and capabilities to be built effectively and efficiently, support our BU strategies more closely, and deliver on our customers’ evolving payment needs.

About the Role

This newly created role of  Manager, Enterprise PaymentsProduct Operations is an exciting opportunity to contribute and support critical business operations for the Multi-Rail Payments Network within the Enterprise Payments Center of Excellence (COE). The incumbent will be an integral contributor within a large scale, enterprise-wide program established to redesign our payment execution operating model and accelerate the development of our enterprise payment services.

The successful candidate will support or own driving outcomes for critical business operations, governance activities, and effective risk management within  Multi-Rail payment products and capabilities. This role is ideal for someone who can manage projects simultaneously, establish collaborative partnerships, understand control requirements whilst immersing themselves in the complexity of the business and its varied interactions with the wider Blue Box.   The role requires close collaboration with the local and central product teams, Risk, Compliance and Senior Leaders across all markets.

How will you make an impact in this role?

The role will report to the Director - Enterprise Payments Product Operations based in the UK and focus on following objectives: 

  • Performing quality assurance on documentation of Operational Risk Events (OREs) type, urgency, severity/impact (e.g., impact analysis), and investigate as necessary to understand and address the root causes
  • Supporting go to market product strategies to ensure Risks are appropriately assessed and mitigation plans are implemented.
  • Manage E2E issues, operational risk events (OREs), and corrective action plans (CAPs) related to payments to ensure efficient and speedy resolution in line with policy and standards.
  • Use data analytics to produce reporting and analyse trends in OREs and other control gaps identify potential systemic risks or control weaknesses within BU processes.
  • Partner with other Process Assurance teams to build a robust and sustainable control environment for our regulatory compliance processes. 
  • Drive product oversight by managing all product governance activities including RCSA, PRSAs, TLM, and controls testing.
  • Measure, monitor, and report on product metrics including product usage, volumes, customer trends, and overall performance.
  • Identify and implement opportunities to streamline workflows, eliminate bottlenecks, and scale product management & development processes.
  • Drive New Product Development Charter, including consistent and standard product documentation, approvals and artefacts across all the Multi-Rail payment products and capabilities.
  • Drive operational readiness activities for new products, processes, tools, etc. being launched to ensure they are deployed effectively and efficiently from the point of go live.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Problem solver and agile decision-maker with solid analytical skills.
  • Experience with global non-card payments (ACH, wire, RTP) preferred.
  • Understanding of operational risk concepts and programs, , protocol and tools.
  • Analytical mindset: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a proactive approach to resolving issues and implementing process improvements.
  • Proven ability to work autonomously and adjust quickly to shifting priorities, multiple demands, ambiguity, and rapid change.
  • Proven strong project management for delivering results in complex and highly-matrixed organizations.
  • Excellent interpersonal and collaboration skills.
  • Resilient team player with ability to influence across all levels and to develop relationships with leaders, peers, and control and compliance teams.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills allowing for clear and appropriate messaging for multiple levels/audiences
  • Effective time management skills and ability to balance priorities.
  • Great sense of humor and can do attitude will be appreciated.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience or ability and will to learn data extraction, working with data queries on Amex platforms (Cornerstone, Lumi etc.).

Salary Range: $90,000.00 to $165,000.00 annually + bonus + benefits
