Job DescriptionPURPOSE AND SCOPE:
The Manager, EVC Operations Communications serves as the primary content developer for the functional units of the Office of the Executive Vice Chancellor, Operations (EVCO). This individual will work directly with the EVCO as part of the EVCO's cabinet. The Communications Manager is the driving force for creating all visual and text communications for the functional units belonging to the Office of the EVCO. The primary focus of this position is on clear, innovative communications, storytelling, and materials disbursement for the Office of the EVCO. The Communications Manager will work with subject matter experts for content details but will be responsible for conceptualizing, designing, and creating the finished products.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Builds out, develops, and manages content for our website, Sharepoint, social media, on-campus public display screens, system-wide emails, community channels and other avenues of communication
- Develops and distributes materials, such as newsletters, brochures, infographics, reports, organizational charts, and presentations (including those to the Board) ensuring accuracy and clarity in all communications
- Oversees branding and template development for the Office of the EVCO; ensures all print and digital media have a consistent brand identity, adhere to the LSC style guide, and incorporate the highest standards of inclusivity and accessibility for all
- Coordinates with EVCO Cabinet members and other LSC leadership to develop a messaging framework for uplifting Office of the EVCO's communications in print and digital content
- Collaborates with teams and leaders to conceptualize how they might highlight their efforts and works with them to develop content and create narratives regarding our operations
- Takes photos and creates short videos; including but not limited to illuminating content, updating professional headshots for the functional units under the Office of EVCO, riding out to LSC locations after weather events to capture before and after photographs and images of our teams in action, and developing training and onboarding materials
- Utilizes a variety of detailed reports and data-driven information to provide informed updates to Office of the EVCO leadership
- Incorporates feedback from internal stakeholders and understand the needs and preferences external audiences to ensure effective and impactful communications
- Assists with administrative tasks such as managing project timelines and deliverables, preparing reports, managing special projects, creating surveys, and maintaining consistent and efficient workflows
- Responsible for other reasonable, related duties as assigned
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
- Experience with photography, video production, and digital storytelling
- Knowledge of graphic design to develop overall layout and design for various types of communication, such as newsletters, reports, and other marketing materials
- Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills; including the ability to actively listen and critically process and distill information into essential content
- Excellent customer service skills
- Experience and proficient ability with content management systems to create visual text and imagery concepts to communicate ideas effectively
- Ability to learn new software products and applications
- Ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritize workload, and meet deadlines
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Ability to effectively coordinate multiple projects
- Strong working knowledge of business applications such as Microsoft Office Suite products, Microsoft Office SharePoint Server, Adobe Suite products including Creative Cloud, Canva and Service Now ticketing system
PHYSICAL ABILITIES:
The work is sedentary. Typically, the employee sits comfortably to do the work. However, there may be some walking; standing; bending; carrying of light items, such as papers, books, or small parts; or driving an automobile. No special physical demands are required to perform the work.
WORK SCHEDULE AND CONDITIONS:
- Equipment used includes, PC workstation running on a LAN in a Microsoft Windows environment, calculator, phone, and other general office equipment
- Interface with internal and external contacts as needed to carry out the functions of the position
- Work is performed in a climate-controlled office with minimal exposure to safety hazards
- May regularly travel to different LSC locations
- May be fully reassigned to other LSC locations if necessary
- May need to work weekends and untraditional hours if necessary
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor's degree and at least 3 years of experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- Experience must include at least 3 years of professional writing, storytelling, content creation, or related work experience
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Experience working in graphic design
- Experience working in communications
- Experience working in higher education
- Technical certifications in Adobe or other graphic design applications
Hiring salary range is $54,528 - $62,708.
Lone Star College provides a hiring salary range for all posted full-time non-faculty positions. Where your salary offer would fall in that range is determined by your related experience and education.
