The salary range for this position is $36.24 - $78.94

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Greet patient and assess patient pre-operatively
  • Assure all documentation, including consent, H&P, and allergy status is present in chart
  • Accompany patient to the O.R. for their procedure
  • Assist anesthesiologist with spinals, or regional blocks
  • Draw up medication, spike bags, as per policy and procedures
  • EMR Charting functions during procedures
  • Secure and prepare all supplies required for surgical intervention
  • Opening sterile implants and supplies
  • Ensure adherence to sterile process and maintenance of the sterile field
  • Perform instrument counts prior to each procedure
  • Perform scrub functions (if appropriately trained, and comfortable with this duty)
  • Collect and label specimens taken during surgical procedure
  • Room turnovers as part of a Team
  • Duties may additionally include functioning as a unit support technician and in the OR core.
  • Follow all facility Policies and Procedures related to position and role in the O.R.
  • Follow all federal, state and departmental safety procedures

Education/Experience

Education/Experience

  • Graduation from an accredited school of nursing
  • Current State licensure and CPR, ACLS and PALS accreditation
  • Two years of OR, Recovery Room, Intensive Care or Emergency Room experience is desired

Skills/Knowledge/Abilities

  • Problem solving skills
  • Skill in using a computer
  • Knowledge of orthopedics and ENT
  • Outpatient clinical organizational ability
  • Ability to remove oneself personally from given situations, remaining objective
  • Ability to exhibit cooperation, flexibility, and provide assistance when interfacing with patients, physician and staff
  • Ability to multi-task
  • Skill in organizing and reporting information that is accurate and complete
  • Understanding of the need for and evidence of consistent respect for confidentiality/HIPAA
  • Ability to maintain composure in stressful situations
  • Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with all staff
  • Ability to prepare records in accordance with detailed instructions
  • Ability to communicate clearly
  • Consistency and timeliness in attendance

Work may be performed in an office and clinical environment.  Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range.  While performing the duties of this job, the associate is regularly required to talk or hear.  The associate is required to sit for long periods of time, stand and walk, bend and stretch.  Use of telephone and computer is required.  Manual dexterity required for use of computer keyboard. Occasionally lifts and carries items weighing up to 40 pounds. May requires working under stressful conditions or working irregular hours.
