Idaho National Laboratory is hiring a Quality Engineer to work in our Procurement Quality department. Our team works a 9x80 schedule located out of our Willow Creek Building facility with every other Friday off. Hybrid work opportunities may be available for this position.
You will function as a Procurement Supplier Quality Engineer (QE) to support multiple projects and perform oversight and mentoring of technical staff. Review and approve Purchase Orders and Contracts, ensuring lab-wide and facility-specific clauses are incorporated into procurement documents. The Procurement Supplier Quality Engineer will report to the Procurement Quality Manager.
Responsibilities Include:
- Develop and continuously improve QA plans and procedures; provide improvement suggestions on INL quality related documents; interface with and provide quality-related training to technical personnel and management, Quality Engineers, QA, and technical staff; and interface with external customers and participants in quality-related matters.
- Develop quality assurance planning documents for quality significant items and services to ensure compliance with design and procurement requirements.
- Review quality-related procurement actions to ensure appropriate implementation of Quality Program requirements.
- Conduct quality program reviews for applicable activities to assure adequate quality requirements are identified and incorporated.
- Establish protocols for inspection basis and nonconformance conditions.
- Provide technical expertise, assistance, and advice to program, project, facility management and personnel relative to quality compliance and implementation issues. Interact with facility senior management on significant matters requiring coordination across organizations lines.
- Develop quality planning documents implementing BEA Quality Program engineering principles. Develop quality assurance inspection plans for Quality significant items and services to ensure compliance with design and procurement requirements.
- Review and approve quality-related procurement actions to ensure appropriate implementation of Quality Program requirements.
- Provide Quality Program expertise to assist assigned facility personnel in the development of new quality concepts for new structure, system, and component (SSC) design, development, procurement, and installation.
- Provide input to subject matter experts and functional area managers to promote continuous improvement in INL Quality and related processes.
- Interface with internal and external customers to determine that needs are being met.
- Provide surveillance, auditing, and reporting services for a given facility or scope of work assignment to ensure facility management has clear visibility and the opportunity to manage organizational performance.
- Ensure quality program compliance through the review and concurrence of Quality affecting documentation.
- Maintain complete understanding and application of principles, concepts, and practices required for delivering quality techniques and tools.
- Maintain required training and proficiency per training plan.
Minimum Requirements:
- Level 2: Bachelor’s degree in technical field (Industrial Technology) and 2 years of relevant experience or Master’s. High School diploma or equivalent and 8 years of relevant experience will be considered in lieu of a degree.
- Level 3: Bachelor’s degree in technical field and 5 years relevant experience, master’s and 2 years of relevant experience. High School diploma or equivalent and 11 years of relevant experience will be considered in lieu of degree.
- Relevant experience includes the following: Quality Inspector, Quality Engineer, or Document Control Coordinator in an NQA-1 facility.
- Be able to qualify as a Quality Engineer and be familiar with and able to navigate through procurement software.
- Have a working knowledge of all relevant quality and calibration requirements, specifications, systems, rules, and regulations and be able to effectively partner with INL and DOE personnel.
- Understanding of quality concepts and practices, be thoroughly familiar with codes and standards such as ASME NQA-1, and regulations as they apply to various types of projects or work activities.
- Maintain proficiency and required training and qualification for quality engineering responsibilities and participate in professional development activities.
Job Information:
- The pay range for this position is: Level 2 ($63,528 - $130,284) / Level 3 ($75,804 - $155,496). At Idaho National Laboratory compensation decisions are determined using factors such as education, relevant experience, and other credentials.
