Job Description:
The Role
As a Senior Accountant, you will be a key member of the Fidelity Investments Life Insurance ("FILI") accounting team. You will be responsible for supporting month-end close activities. In addition, you will assist in preparing quarterly regulatory filings and annual financial statements.
Preparing journal entries, account reconciliations and management reporting schedules for the monthly and quarterly financial close;
Responsible for variance analysis to support reviews of financial results;
Collaborating with business partners to ensure accurate accounting and reporting;
Documenting intercompany and related party transactions;
Preparing audited financial statements and quarterly/annual regulatory filings;
Supporting the external audit process including preparing requested schedules; and
Streamlining processes and enhancing controls to improve efficiency of reporting.
The Expertise and The Skills You Bring
A Bachelor's degree in Accounting, CPA preferred
Minimum of three years' experience in the Financial Services industry preferred but not required
Solid understanding of accounting principles and internal controls and experience preparing financial statements and related disclosures
Ability to multi-task and work under pressure to meet deadlines
Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to interact effectively and confidently with all levels of management and business partners
Strong organizational skills with the ability to work independently
Knowledge of financial systems and dynamic reporting tools (i.e., Oracle and Free Form Planning reporting tools) and are proficient in Excel

We play a key role ensuring that financial transactions are recorded accurately for financial reporting and protecting the firm's assets through our work in financial accounting, internal controls, and legal entity reporting. FILI, who is part of Fidelity's Enterprise Services organization, provides annuity and insurance products that enable our customers to address their financial needs.
