About the role:
The Senior Manager of Merchandise Planning in Fashion is a highly skilled and results driven merchandise planner with a strong analytical mindset, a keen eye for identifying business opportunities, and the ability to develop and execute business strategies. As a key member of the Merchandise Planning team, the Senior Manager will collaborate with cross-functional teams to align sales and inventory targets with broader business objectives and optimize overall performance.
The Senior Manager will support the Senior Group Director by acting as the owner/operator of a key category within the fashion division, contributing to the team’s objectives and driving the overall success of Merchandising.
What impact you can create at CHANEL:
- Ensure the success of one or more categories by demonstrating full ownership of merchandise planning responsibilities, developing and executing plans/strategies to achieve revenue and inventory targets
- Forecast monthly sales at the department and boutique level, and while identifying opportunities/risks and reconciling each session to prior versions
- Create OTB plans for every collection that strategically maximize sale potential, inventory efficiency and facilitate buyers' assortment objectives
- Monitor sales and inventory performance against set targets, providing regular updates to key stakeholders and adjusting strategies as needed to guarantee goals are met or exceeded
- Contribute to inventory optimization by formulating in-season transfers, inter and intra diversions/reallocations, setting new boutique opening targets, warehouse consolidations, etc
- Manage the end of product lifecycle planning process according to global guidelines
- Prepare and present clear, concise reports on performance, highlighting key insights, challenges, and recommendations for future strategies, ensuring timely action is taken
- Collaborate to complete long range planning deadlines as part of Chanel’s annual MTP process
- Drive implementation of new technology/processes that enable efficiencies and improve forecast accuracy
- Collaborate with Product, Visual Merchandising, Retail, Supply, Client Insights teams to substantiate forecast assumptions and drive execution of projects
- Draw on your leadership abilities to be a champion for planning projects and actively participate on cross-functional taskforces, when applicable
- Address impromptu requests and be a proactive, agile partner in a fast-paced, multifaceted environment, collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams to drive alignment and achieve collective business objectives

What you will bring to the team:
- Must be proficient in Microsoft Excel and knowledge of Microsoft PowerPoint
- Excellent analytical skills
- Must possess expert Retail Math skills
- Extensive knowledge and experience in merchandise, assortment and financial planning initiatives. Demand Planning a plus
- Excellent presentation and communication skills, both spoken and written
- Excellent interpersonal skills
Position Logistics:
- Minimum 7 years of Merchandise Planning experience
- Partially Remote: Role requires a minimum of three days in-person office presence at the designated location/office.
- Bachelor’s degree required, MBA a plus
- Location requirement: NY
Compensation:
- The anticipated base salary range for this position is 87,500 through $125,000. Base salary is one component of the total compensation for this position. Other forms of variable pay [may/will] be offered for this position. Other components [may/will] include bonus potential, benefits, and/or perks.
