Required Education
Bachelor’s degree in biological sciences or related disciplines (Biochemistry, Biotechnology,
Bioengineering, Pharmacology, Biology, Medicine, and others). Prior experience in cell culturing, histology, and molecular biology/biochemistry is a plus.

Job Summary
The Lab Technician/manager candidate will be part of a research group of established researchers at The Department of Neurological Surgery and Brain Restoration Center from the University of Kentucky School of Medicine and will interact with a broad range of scientists with expertise in cell culture, cell biology, biochemistry, molecular biology, and neuroscience. The person undertaking this position will work under the supervision of Dr. Paula V. Monje, Associate Professor from The Department of Neurological Surgery. Work will contribute to establishing a new laboratory facility that will focus on the manufacturing, processing, and analysis of cell and tissue cultures for in vitro modeling and neural repair. The candidate will contribute to ongoing organizational and administrative tasks needed to set up the lab and launch the experimental work. This position will assist in the organization, administration, set up, and maintenance of the laboratory space and equipment, and contribute to ad hoc activities. This position will report directly to Dr. Paula V. Monje.
Skills / Knowledge / Abilities
Attention to detail, excellent written and oral communication skills, critical thinking, organization, time management, strong interpersonal communication skills, basic computer skills (MS Office Suite; PowerPoint, MS Word, MS Excel, Outlook), and English verbal/written skills are necessary.
