POSITION SUMMARY:
Coordinate and oversee the daily activities of the Quality and Safety Departments. Responsible for developing, maintaining the ISO quality system certification. Ensure that products manufactured meet / exceed customer requirements.
Plan, develop and implement Safety programs I/A/W OSHA regulations to ensure a safe workplace and that Safety Policies / Procedures are followed.
This is a collaborative, performance-based position.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS INCLUDE:
Quality:
- Ensure ISO standards are met with no deficiencies
- Implement actions to continuously improve the QMS
- Implement root cause analysis and corrective actions to correct quality issues.
- Supervise Quality Inspection Team to provide support to Manufacturing
- Develop, implement and maintain documented training protocols to ensure all team members are cross trained in their duties.
- Ensure identification of all non-conforming materials
- Manage in ISO Internal Audits as scheduled
- Work closely with Manufacturing Management to resolve quality related issues
- Work closely with Customer Service to resolve customer issues.
- Participate in the analysis of supplier performance as requested.
- Assist in the development of quality procedures
- Read and interpret blueprint and product specifications
- Assist in the development of quality plans for new production development items
- Maintain files of all inspections and tests.
- Refer questionable issues to the Senior Director of Quality and assist with solution implementation
- Flexibility to perform other duties as assigned
Safety:
- Maintain safe and healthy work environment by ensuring employees follow standards and procedures and are complying with legal regulations.
- Implement additional safety procedures as needed
- Facilitate monthly cross-functional safety committee meetings
- Investigate work related near-misses, accidents and illnesses and implement documented measures to prevent reoccurrence
- Perform a documented scheduled / unscheduled safety walk program, report finding to upper management.
- Develop and execute performance metrics to measure program effectiveness against business objectives and risk reduction expectations
- Refer questionable issues to the Senior Director of Quality and assist with solution implementation
- Flexibility to perform other duties as assigned
JOB REQUIREMENTS INCLUDE:
Education: High School Diploma (required), prefer an Associates or Bachelors degree.
Experience:
- 4 years’ experience in Supervisory role.
- 4 years’ experience in quality / Safety field’s
- Fundamental understanding of ISO 9001 principles preferred
Knowledge/Skills:
- Computer skills necessary to operate Word, Excel, PowerPoint and web-based applications.
- Understanding of process improvement methodology and application.
- Understanding of quality and manufacturing principles, theories and concepts.
- Interpersonal and communication skills necessary to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, management, regulatory agencies, customers, and suppliers.
- Leadership skills to make decisions with sound judgment and guide day-to-day operations successfully.
- Ability to work without significant direction, and exercise considerable latitude in decision making and determining technical objectives of assignments.
Licenses/Certifications:
- ISO 9001:2015 Lead Auditor Certification preferred
