Overview
The Vice President, Marketing and External Communications, works closely with leadership to develop and implement marketing strategies and multimedia communication campaigns for LMI to reach its external constituencies, including federal government customers and prospective customers, prospective talent, media, and broader industry. The position requires strong and broad communication skills, media relations skills, and the ability to manage people and collaborate across the company. The position also requires creativity in deploying new and varied tactics and tools to market LMI and its offerings.
Responsibilities
- Shape and drive an overall strategy and plan of action to promote LMI’s brand narrative and elevate brand comprehension and awareness among key audiences with a specific emphasis on developing and executing a multi-faceted marketing campaigns across our business areas.
- Lead the marketing and external communications team—to include portfolio and solutions marketers, digital communications specialists, and creative and editorial professionals—to effectively meet the needs of the organization, fulfilling LMI’s marketing and brand strategy and business objectives.
- Effectively manage, govern, and mature LMI’s marketing and external communications function and capabilities. Apply best-practice approaches, tools, and metrics in planning, executing, monitoring, assessing, and adjusting marketing and external communications activities.
- Take overall accountability for the development and execution of marketing and strategic communications plans to support key LMI markets and functions—to include solutions and technology, markets and growth, strategic partnerships and M&A, and talent acquisition.
- Ensure the development, placement, and promotion of consistent and compelling messaging across all channels, in line with LMI’s differentiated brand and corporate strategy.
- Manage and allocate LMI’s marketing budget to achieve high business return on investment.
- Serve as a corporate spokesperson. Build and maintain strong relationships with key external stakeholders, including media, vendors, and other partners.
- Provide direct communications support to LMI’s senior executives, elevating their visibility and enabling them to effectively represent LMI and tell the LMI story in a variety of media.
- Foster a culture of innovation within LMI’s marketing and external communications department, ensuring that LMI’s marketing and communications strategies and tactics reflect cutting-edge approaches and our core value of innovation.
Qualifications
- 10 years’ experience as a marketing, communications, and/or creative specialist, and creative specialist, with at least 4 years of experience managing marketing, communications, and/or creative functions/teams and specific experience elevating a companies brand.
- Bachelor’s degree (marketing, communications, journalism, or a related field a plus)
- Experience designing and leading the execution of recruiting marketing and directed customer/market campaigns with the goal to overall elevate our brand
- Experience leading transformational brand, marketing, and communications initiatives in government technology and consulting companies
- Understanding of the government technology and consulting industry
- Ability to work effectively in a highly matrixed organization and establish him or herself as a strong and valued partner
- Demonstrated ability to influence and communicate with a wide variety of internal and external stakeholders, including executive leadership
- Ability to manage media relations and other partnerships with tact, professionalism, and integrity
- Strong project, budget, and time management skills
- Exceptional communications skills with very high attention to detail
- Ability to manage, align, develop, mentor and motivate staff to achieve needed results
- Strategic thinker who can translate complex concepts into actionable, understandable plans and programs
- Strong understanding and application of marketing and communications trends
- Self-starter who can balance multiple priorities simultaneously, able to work to tight deadlines, establish clear priorities and maintain professionalism under pressure
