WIC is a program focusing on nutrition education, breastfeeding support, health and diet screening, growth and development monitoring, and health and social services referrals, as well as providing monthly healthy food benefits for pregnant, breastfeeding and postpartum women, infants and children up to five years of age. WIC serves families from many cultures and ethnic traditions, languages, backgrounds and abilities. It is designed to promote positive health outcomes, strengthen life course nutrition and health, and reduce health disparities in the populations we serve. 

This is a professional supervisor position of a public health clinical program. The supervisor must be a highly responsible person with excellent communication skills, technical skills in nutrition, program management skills, supervisory experience, and self-awareness. The responsibilities in this position include staff development and supervision, WIC clinic management, and leadership. Technical skills are required as well. This position may carry a clinical caseload as a practicing registered dietitian nutritionist.

As the WIC Clinical Supervisor, your responsibilities will include: 

WIC Clinic Management

  • Ensures efficient staffing and client appointment schedules.
  • Coordinates with other WIC clinics.
  • Provides professional resources and support for staff.
  • Maintains quality service delivery among clinic staff.
  • Follows and maintains WIC program integrity.
  • Monitors clinic-based expenditures according to the assigned budget.

Team Development, Staff Supervision and Training

  • Facilitates staff meetings and communications.
  • Monitors and reviews staff productivity.
  • Addresses personnel concerns and disciplinary actions.
  • Leads recruitment and hiring for new staff.
  • Participates in new staff training and continuing education.

Leadership Team Participation

  • Provides leadership and input to WIC-wide projects and committees.
  • Works with other WIC Supervisors and Program Manager to provide back-up clinic supervision and program management.
  • Represents Multnomah County WIC to State WIC groups or committees as assigned.

TO QUALIFY:

Minimum Qualifications/Transferable Skills*:

  • Education/training: equivalent to a bachelor's degree 
  • Experience: and three (3) to six (6) years of experience that demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position.
  • Registered Dietitian/Licensed Nutritionist/Holistic Nutrition Consultant with 3 to 6 years of certification/licensure

Everyday, Multnomah County staff work together to serve as a safety net for our communities. During a disaster, this safety net becomes even more critical. All County employees have a role in serving the public during inclement weather, natural disaster, or other types of community emergency response.
