Position Summary:&nbsp;Do you have a passion for sharing your expertise, craft or hobby with others? Pellissippi State’s noncredit lifelong learning program offers personal enrichment classes for the community with a wide range of topics, including: fitness, languages, musical instruments, arts and crafts, wellness, history, and more. Class participants are community members ages 18+. Some of the many benefits of teaching a lifelong learning class include working with engaged and enthusiastic adult learners and flexible class scheduling.
Our noncredit class schedule is released twice a year: spring/summer and fall. Classes can be as short as 90 minutes or up to 12 hours in length. Instructors are expected to have a high level of expertise in the subject of their proposed class, and some experience in teaching or training others. While compensation can vary depending on the type of class being offered, noncredit instructors are generally paid starting at $40 per class hour or a flat fee per class, and work on a temporary, part-time contract.
Instructors are responsible for developing their class content with assistance from the Program Coordinator as needed, and teaching the class. The Workforce &amp; Community Development office with work with instructors to determine the best format, date and time of offering, and will set the registration fee for the class.

Collaborate with the Center for Teaching and Learning team as appropriate to develop training materials to provide professional development opportunities for faculty.

Design instructional management systems as appropriate. Create educational podcasts, videos, and content as assigned.
• Guide new Internet and hybrid course proposals through the approval process, maintaining the Internet and hybrid course inventories and development manuals. Research new innovations in both learning design and education to provide professional development opportunities to faculty.
• Complete required annual processes to support the College’s participation in the National Council for State Authorization Reciprocity Agreements (NC-SARA). Track SACSCOC substantive change and compliance for alternative delivery and off-campus course offerings. Evaluate new eLearning materials.

Additionally, you will counsel and advise students on academic preparation and career goals and work to retain students in the program.</li>
<li>Develop and maintain a site on the college's Learning Management System (eLearn) platform where class documents (syllabi, classroom information, quizzes, tests, etc.) are stored and available for students to access anytime.</li>
<li>Develop and maintain the program curriculum. Maintain an active advisory committee that meets twice a year and covers industry and program needs.</li>
<li>Professional Growth: Remain current within assigned instruction, related occupational areas, and technologies; acquire, maintain, and apply knowledge of current instructional methodologies and materials; attend scheduled college, divisional, professional development, and in-service activities; and participate in the annual faculty evaluation process.</li>
<li>Service to Students: In addition to teaching, the faculty member is expected to play a vital role in program development. This includes maintaining an up-to-date program and curriculum, maintaining technical skills, and acquiring new technical skills as the industry evolves. You will also be responsible for assisting program graduates with employment opportunities.</li>

<li>Familiarity with holistic support for students outside the classroom. Position Requirements
<ul>
<li>High School Diploma or GED required</li>
<li>Minimum three (3) years experience in the Diesel Service Industry, and a graduate of a one-year diploma program or five years experience as a Diesel technician

<li>Willing to complete ASE Master Certification within the first year of employment</li>
</ul>

<li>Evidence of ability to teach students</li>
<li>Excellent communication and interpersonal skills</li>
<li>Commitment to remain current in the Diesel Service Industry</li>
<li>Basic Computer Skills</li>
</ul>
Preferred Requirements:

<li>Associate or Bachelor's Degree</li>
<li>Diesel Service Excellence (ASE) Master certification</li>
<li>Prior teaching experience</li>
</ul>
