Job Summary

Job Duties
<ul>
<li>Instruct justice-involved students in technical training to prepare them to re-enter the job market in the building construction field through lecture, demonstrations, and/or audio-visual aids. - (Essential)</li>
<li>Prepare and/or revise syllabi of courses of study with detailed lesson plans. - (Essential)</li>
<li>Administer assessments to evaluate student progress. - (Essential)</li>
<li>Maintain student academic records and submit reports related to the program (i.e., grades, attendance, discipline, etc.). - (Essential)</li>
<li>Attend workshops and/or other training programs to remain current in the building construction industry. Overnight travel may be required. - (Essential)</li>
<li>Conduct and/or attend meetings, day and/or evening, with business and industry to develop working relationships with building construction industry personnel. - (Essential)</li>

Minimum Qualifications
Associate Degree or Diploma from an accredited technical training program in the occupation to be taught. Three years of related industry work experience in the construction industry within the last five years. Computer skills, including Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.).
Preferred Qualifications
Industry-recognized certifications and/or license in the field or the ability to become certified within the first year of employment. Teaching experience.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
High degree of knowledge in carpentry, plumbing, electrical, and masonry. Knowledge of NCCER. Organizational and communication skills necessary to be an effective teacher. Willingness to remain current through continued education in the occupation to be taught. Potential ability in instruction. Strong, moral character, mature attitude, and stable personality. Networking skills with ability to establish and maintain positive relationships with students, staff, related business, industry, and Department of Corrections personnel. Time management skills; ability to meet deadlines. Self-starter; ability to work with limited supervision.
Salary:&nbsp; Commensurate with Tennessee Colleges of Applied Technology salary guidelines.

Roane State Community College invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track Assistant Professor position in Computer Science with Cloud Technologies specialization beginning August 1, 2024. The successful candidate will serve in support of Roane State’s A.A.S. in Computer Information Technology, which offers concentrations in programming, cyber defense, networking, and Cloud Technologies. Courses in this program range from entry level training including A+, Linux+, MS Office, and Net+; includes training in AWS Cloud Foundations I and II. Job Duties

<li>The successful candidate will be part of a well-established program already designated as a National Center of Academic Excellence in Cyber Defense, and ATMAE accredited.</li>

<li>Other duties include holding office hours, advising students, service to college and community, and maintaining a program of professional development.</li>

Minimum Qualifications
Master of Science degree in computer science or computer engineering from a regionally accredited institution. Candidates with degrees in related fields should expound on their qualifications in the cover letter. 
Graduation from an institution that has a history of AWS Cloud Technologies certifications is a must. 
We will also accept relevant professional experience in other cloud technologies and virtualization, which should be explained in detail in the cover letter. 
Candidate must have good oral and written communication skills and exhibit flexibility and collegiality. 
Preferred Qualifications
Teaching experience in cloud technologies at a community college, including online teaching. Computer skills including familiarity with online instruction tools such as Desire2Learn.
