Research Assistant Professor in Pharmaceutical Sciences (2 positions) The University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP) School of Pharmacy is seeking to recruit two non-tenure track Research Assistant Professors on 3-year contracts in all areas of clinical pharmacy research as part of the UTEP Regents' Research Excellence Program (RREP). The RREP program aims to enhance the research competitiveness of the UT System and UT institutions. Preference will be given to candidates who will apply their expertise in health disparities in our predominately Hispanic population and utilize clinical settings or clinical datasets. Additionally, preferred candidates will have experience addressing important questions related to population health including access to healthcare, quality of healthcare, medication and treatment adherence, vaccine uptake, and disease prevention studies. Additional areas of preference include: 1) developing and/or improving behavioral interventions that can facilitate improved patient care or service delivery to advance pharmacy practice in the region, 2) pharmacoepidemiological studies to assess the safety, efficacy, and cost-effectiveness of medications in our population, 3) pharmacy practice research to include the evaluation of new and existing services, 4) workload measurement, 5) pharmacoeconomics, and 6) quality management within our region. Purpose of Position Job Summary:The Associate Vice President (AVP) is a strategic leader who oversees and facilitates collaborative partnerships with senior university administrators in the evaluation of institutional outcomes and identification of critical opportunities to promote institutional goals. Reporting to the Vice President &amp; Chief of Staff, and also serving as a member of the University Cabinet, the AVP serves as chief planner for the university. The AVP will interpret and present data in a manner that clearly tells the institution's story and depicts our progress and opportunities for growth, within historical and demographic contexts. The AVP provides information and analytic support to the University's administrative decision makers to facilitate strategic planning, policymaking, resource allocations, enrollment projections, and other processes requiring sound interpretation of data. The AVP also leads important operational functions by establishing vision and expectations for the Center for Institutional Evaluation, Research and Planning (CIERP) in support of the University's mission and strategic initiatives. The AVP has responsibility for leading a team of professionals in CIERP who manage data, provide analysis and interpretation of data, and prepare reports for internal and external use and distribution. The AVP is also expected to lead, collaborate, design and conduct institutional research studies. The AVP will help facilitate faculty-driven assessment activities, manage the strategic planning process, and prepare and submit reports to various state and federal agencies. The AVP will also serve as the Chief Data Officer and facilitate the use of data for decision-making and planning across all units. They will assist others in grant proposals to support educational programs and gather and disseminate research information about the University and grants that may be available. Essential Functions Lead collaborative partnerships with senior university leaders in the evaluation of institutional outcomes and identification of critical opportunities Manage a fast-paced department that collaborates with internal and external stakeholders to achieve the University's mission. Serve as chief planner for the university. Interpret and present data in a manner that clearly tells the institution's story and depicts our progress and opportunities. Oversee the design and execution of institutional research studies and communicate results to university constituencies. Analyze and interpret data to produce audience-appropriate reports, executive summaries, fact sheets, graphic presentations, visualizations, dashboards, etc. Work with institutional research staff to support faculty through information-driven assessment towards the improvement of teaching, learning, retention, and student success. Provide guidance on policy and planning to Cabinet, senior leadership, and other stakeholders. Develop and execute a comprehensive data-governance structure aligned with organizational goals and objectives. Define the architecture, design principles, and roadmap for the governance structure, including data warehouse infrastructure to support current and future data needs. Ensure the accuracy, validity, and accessibility of institutional data, and establish and maintain data governance and quality control policies and procedures. Support robust data integration processes, lead the advancement of business intelligence (BI) and analytics capabilities, and collaborate with stakeholders to measure key performance indicators (KPIs), delivering actionable insights for informed decision-making. Coordinate and respond to all state, federal and organizational data requests (institutional and program accrediting organizations, annual institutional reports including IPEDS, Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board Reports, UT System requests, and external surveys). Oversee CIERP's operational functions, including budget management. Set expectations for departmental communication including maintenance of the CIERP website. Perform other duties and special projects as assigned. Comply with all State and University policies. Required Qualifications: Education: Master's degree in statistics, mathematics, or research-based discipline. In-depth understanding of research design, statistics, and strategic planning. Demonstrated proficiency in creating complex relational databases and spreadsheets and querying relational databases. Demonstrated success in leading and managing an institutional research office or an equivalent entity. Demonstrated experience in effectively communicating data and insights to impact institutional progress. Excellent judgment, discretion, accuracy, and attention to detail. and Experience: Minimum six (6) years of experience in senior or executive leadership. Minimum five years of experience in institutional research or a similar role in higher education, including leading and managing complex projects and teams. Excellent statistical and analytical skills, with an ability to explain complex data analysis to a diverse set of constituencies. Demonstrated knowledge of quantitative and qualitative research methods, statistics, Microsoft Excel, and relational databases. Preferred Qualifications: An earned doctorate from an accredited institution Demonstrated ability to conduct policy analysis and implement strategy in complex organizational settings Demonstrated ability to conceptualize and carry out research projects Proficiency in AI tools in evaluation and assessment. Exemplary writing and presentation skills for different audiences and purposes, including accreditation, strategic planning, assessment, and grant applications. Proven ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders, such as faculty, staff, students, administrators, and external partners, and to foster a culture of data-informed decision making. Prior experience with PeopleSoft, Banner, MS SQL SSMS, MS Power BI, and Tableau preferred.
