Job Summary Registered Nurses in the Adult Progressive Care Unit on 6th FLOOR at UK Chandler Hospital provide care for adult patients who are moderately stable, have complex needs and require comprehensive care. Patient care will include frequent assessment of pulmonary, renal, cardiac, vascular and neurological conditions. The Adult Progressive Care Unit provides a more intensive level of care and monitoring than telemetry and medical/surgical units. As a part of this unit, the RN serves as an important component of the interdisciplinary progressive care team. This team is responsible for closely monitoring the patient’s physiologic condition, performing frequent treatments as ordered by the physician, and providing a safe transition from intensive care to acute care. The primary responsibilities for this position consist of providing total, comprehensive, continuous and patient centered care which includes: assessing, documenting, planning, implementing, teaching, developing, and evaluating a comprehensive nursing plan of care; delivering direct patient care; ensuring patient satisfaction; training and delegating duties for Nursing Care Technicians (Nursing Assistant); and adhering to University policies and procedures as well as federal, state and local regulations.
