This position performs accounting functions involving the general ledgers and financial statements. Ensures accurate recording of financial transactions for preparation of period-end consolidated and segment reports. Establishes and monitors controls for the safeguarding of company assets. Responsibilities:
- Analyzes performance of Corporate and Segment Accounting according to plan, identifies variances, and provides recommendations. Prepares analyses for Corporate and Segment Accounting Forecast Model.
- Interprets the results of Corporate and Segment Accounting with financial statement classification for accuracy and risks mitigation. prepares financial reports and data, and coordinates systems, procedures, and special reports.
- Assists with monthly closing and account analysis and month-end write ups. Researches and documents unit account variance analysis for internal reporting.
- Collaborates toward the formulation of policies. Reviews and updates policy and procedures.
- Acts as an accountant for joint venture companies. Reviews financials, prepares journal entries, and prepares distributions.
- Maintains responsibility for Corporate and Segment Accounting Balance Sheet and P & L analysis and variance explanations. Prepares city covenant ratios for bank. Reviews new business unit and account set up requests.
- Ensures the suitability and effectiveness of internal controls.
- Researches and makes recommendations regarding appropriate Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) treatment, along with participating in the transition to International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS), if applicable.
- Provides analysis, reports, and support to senior levels and external users relating to financial matters and operations.
- Collaborates with auditors and tax consultants within Accounting Segment and other cross-functional departments.
- Oversees journal entries for accruals and any necessary entries. Reviews the monthly general ledger for accuracy and makes correction.
- Provides analysis and support for quarterly consolidated financials and bank compliance certificates.
- Assumes additional responsibilities as assigned.
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or related field or equivalent work experience required
Experience:
- Experience in contributing to the management of projects is preferred
- Experience in a high transaction volume accounting or financial environment
- Prior multi-unit/retail restaurant experience preferred
- 1+ years’ experience preferably in restaurant industry
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Proficiency in MS Office Word, Excel, Outlook, Power Point and Visio (as applicable)
- Proficiency in Workday (as applicable)
- Ability to communicate well with the general public and experience in establishing and maintaining an effective working relationship with management, vendors, and co-workers
- Ensures optimum performance of the function., increase efficiencies, cut costs, take advantage of opportunities and maintain state-of-the-art practices.
- Ability to work in a team environment
Professional Certification:
- Certified Public Accountant preferred
Working Conditions/Travel Requirements:
- Expected to work the necessary time to satisfactorily fulfill job responsibilities
- Must be able to report to work timely and as required by operational/business needs
- Must be able to work a full-time schedule and work outside of normal business hours when necessary
- Some travel, both locally and long distances, (including air travel), to worksites, meeting sites, and other locations may be necessary.
