  • M.D./D.O. or equivalent degree.
  • Board certification in Anatomic and Clinical Pathology
  • Licensed in Kentucky
  • Demonstrated ability in teaching students at all levels in an academic environment.
  • Knowledge of pathology and laboratory medicine practices in a variety of clinical, teaching and research environments.



Required License/Registration/Certification

Job Summary

The Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at the University of Kentucky College of Medicine is recruiting a pathologist certified in both Anatomic and Clinical Pathology by the American Board of Pathology. The successful candidate would hold a faculty appointment in the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at the University of Kentucky and will be physically located at St. Claire Regional Medical Center in Morehead, KY. Responsibilities include general surgical, cytopathology and clinical pathology for a rural community hospital. Additional responsibilities may include teaching of residents and medical students on rotation.



UK St. Claire (https://www.st-claire.org/about-us/) is the largest employer in the region; with 139 licensed beds, over 1,200 staff members, including a growing medical staff of more than 125 physicians and nearly 70 advanced practice professionals representing more than 30 medical specialties. It includes the largest rural hospital in Eastern Kentucky, seven primary care locations located within five counties, a multi-specialty medical pavilion, two urgent care centers, and an outpatient center.



The department (http://pathology.med.uky.edu/)is an integrated department of pathology with successful programs in anatomic and clinical pathology, a vibrant educational program for medical students, residents and fellows with strong research affiliations with the Markey Cancer Center, Kentucky’s only NCI-Designated Comprehensive Cancer Center. There is a strong institutional commitment to maintain and enhance research and clinical excellence within the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine.
