Job Summary

The University of Kentucky College of Medicine is seeking a Clinical Title Series faculty member needed to maintain and expand the current activity of clinical services in the Department of Pediatrics, Division of Psychology. This position will be in the pediatric BMI clinic to address the psychological factors that play a critical role in obesity prevention and management. This position will also serve the adolescent bariatric surgery program needs for diagnostic evaluations prior to surgery.

The Division of Psychology utilizes evidenced-based practices to evaluate, diagnose, and treat children and adolescents that may have mild or severe behavioral, cognitive, developmental, or emotional disorders. We recognize that mental health is an important part of children’s overall health and well-being. It plays a part in how children handle stress, relate to others, and make healthy choices. Our psychologists play a crucial role in helping patients and families by recognizing and treating mental and behavioral health disorders earlier, decreasing the load on medical providers, and improving patient-level outcomes by impacting physical and mental health. Our psychology resources are designed to assist in a variety of ways, including:

• Conduct psychological assessments and/or tests for diagnostic purposes
• Provide individual therapy and /or group therapy to children and adolescents, utilizing evidence-based therapeutic approaches tailored to patient’s age, developmental stage, and specific needs
• Work collaboratively with children/adolescents to address such issues as anxiety, depression, behavioral problems, self-esteem, social skills, and coping mechanisms
• Promote healthy development, support academic success, and foster positive social and emotional skills
• Help children and families navigate challenges and reach their full potential
• Supporting families by educating them on interventions they can do for their child or how to respond to certain behaviors/emotional needs
• Work with children and their families to develop behavior management strategies and interventions aimed at enhancing adaptive behaviors, reduce problematic behaviors, and improve overall functioning

To apply, please include a CV and Cover Letter along with application. Applications will be reviewed immediately and will continue until filled.
