Doctorate in Physical Therapy (DPT) from an accredited institution of higher education or a Masters degree in PT with a Sports Residency



Required Related Experience

Experience working in a military clinical environment, treating active-duty military personnel



Required License/Registration/Certification

• Board-Certified Sports Specialist (SCS) from the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA)
• Active license to Practice Physical Therapy



Job Summary

We are looking for a motivated individual who can contribute to an ongoing research agenda and associated funded department of defense work investigating the impact of military training stressors and musculoskeletal injuries on physical performance and warfighter readiness. This effort includes a strong research agenda that incorporates a multidisciplinary approach and is dedicated to injury prevention and musculoskeletal health, rehabilitation, and human performance.

We are requesting this faculty position to serve as a Research Title Assistant Professor that will have primary obligations with a Department of Defense funded study operating out of Wilmington, NC. The activities shall be limited to performance of research in rehabilitation sciences focused on performance optimization under the SMRI. This person will be expected to assist in fulfilling the research objectives of the SMRI, to collaborate with other departmental and college faculty, and to work together as part of a multidisciplinary research team of faculty, staff, graduate student researchers, postdocs on the assigned research responsibilities. The anticipated effort for this position is 95% Research/Scholarship and 5% Service.

• Previous experience with physical performance and biomechanical assessments within military or elite athlete populations
• Previous experience incorporating biomechanical and neurosensory outcomes into evidence-based rehabilitation strategies
