The essential job functions of this position require you to: communicate and build working relationships with staff, faculty and candidates from diverse backgrounds; abide by University guidelines; maintain confidentiality; prioritize and manage work effectively; provide exceptional customer service and positively represent the university; ensure work is detailed, accurate and completed in a timely manner; perform work in a sedentary/standing position for long periods of time; interact with individuals from various levels throughout the university and work successfully in a team as well as independently.



Shift

Monday – Friday 8:00 am – 5:00 pm; additional hours may be required based on departmental needs.

As an Employment Consultant, you’ll be at the heart of our hiring efforts, building strong relationships with hiring officials and departments across the University of Kentucky, including UK HealthCare. Your expertise will guide hiring officials on job posting best practices, innovative recruitment strategies, and efficient hiring timelines to attract top-notch applicants.



In this role, you’ll be more than just a consultant; you’ll be a trusted coach, providing training and consultation to targeted hiring departments. Your commitment to excellent customer service will shine as you assist with posting job requisitions and approving hiring proposals daily.



You’ll also have the chance to:


  • Research, create and recommend cutting-edge selection resources and tools.
  • Develop customized behavior-based interview guides.
  • Promote and conduct search committee orientation and effective hiring practices training.
  • Aid in the final hiring decision-making process.

You will also lead and participate in workgroups to support our continuous improvement efforts in our department’s services as well as the hiring processes at the University.

Skills / Knowledge / Abilities

Successful applicants must have superior customer service focus, excellent communication skills, solid professional knowledge of hiring and selection techniques, as well as an ability to quickly gain an understanding of the business operations of distinct units of the University. The ability to successfully influence and manage relationships with hiring officials is required. Must enjoy and excel at collaboration and problem solving. Strong planning and organizational skills, the ability to effectively persuade others, and high emotional intelligence are all keys to success in this position.

Preferred Education/Experience

Prefer Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources or related field; and prefer several years of experience and a proven track record in hiring and selection, coaching or consultation.
