About the role:

We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Inventory Optimization Manager to join our dynamic team. The Inventory Optimization Manager will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of our inventory. Specifically focused on demand forecasting, Inventory replenishment, safety stock and scrapping to ensure healthy inventory levels and fill rates to help limit backorders. This role requires strong analytical skills, leadership abilities, and a deep understanding of inventory optimization best practices.

What you will do:

  • Monitor inventory levels and coordinate replenishment to ensure optimal stock levels while minimizing excess and obsolete inventory.
  • Develop an Inventory Management Strategy, working closely with our current third-party Logistics company (3PL) with the intention of initiate, review, develop and select the appropriate programs and strategies to support bringing this functionality back internally. By 2026, build and developing a skilled team to execute this key function.
  • Collaborate with purchasing, logistics, and warehouse teams to streamline inventory processes and improve efficiency.
  • Forecast demand and coordinate with sales and production teams to ensure adequate inventory levels to meet customer demand.
  • Develop and maintain inventory policies and procedures to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and company standards.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements and cost savings within the inventory management function.


When and Where:

  • Hybrid position based out of Grand Rapids, MI. Monday through Friday, 8 am - 5 pm, at least 3 days of in office presence required per week. Limited travel expected - possible short trips to 3PL sites or other MLA campuses.


What you need to have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Logistics, or a related field. A Master’s degree is a plus.
  • Proven experience in optimizing inventory, with a track record of successfully managing large-scale inventories.
  • Strong analytical skills and proficiency in inventory management software and ERP systems.
  • Proven experience in ERP upgrades.
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Leadership and team-building skills, with experience in managing and developing a team of inventory control professionals.
  • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to collaborate cross-functionally and present findings to senior management.


What would be nice to have:

  • Experience in the Service Parts industry, specifically related to any type of vehicle, machinery or industrial equipment.
  • Experience with Inventory Management in a manufacturing environment is a plus.
  • Certification in Inventory Management (e.g., CPIM) is highly desirable.
  • Basic SQL knowledge and querying.

The salary for this position ranges from $68,000 to $88,000 annually. The specific salary for a successful candidate will depend upon, among other legitimate factors, education, training, and/or experience.
