Lecturer of Applied Brass and Ensembles

The College of Liberal Arts and the Department of Music at The University of Texas at El Paso invite applications for the position of Lecturer of Applied Brass and Ensembles. This is a 100%-time, non-tenure-track position at the rank of Lecturer.

Job responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:
  • Teach applied brass lessons, specializing in either horn or tuba/euphonium
  • Teach undergraduate courses in conducting, brass chamber music, and brass pedagogy
  • Assist the Director of Athletic Bands with duties as assigned
  • Conduct instrumental ensembles as assigned within the Department of Music
  • Develop and expand outreach opportunities in the regional K-12 school system to further nurture the musical talent of El Paso students while recruiting students to attend UTEP
  • Maintain an active presence as a performing artist and/or conductor

Appointment Date: Fall 2025

Job Requirements:
M.M. with documented experience and record of success as a horn or tuba/euphonium performer, teacher, and conductor. Experience in both performance and conducting within professional, collegiate, or K-12 school settings is required. The ideal candidate will have demonstrated success in leading and conducting ensembles, showcasing strong conducting skills and an ability to inspire and guide musicians. Strong pedagogical skills and a proven record in performance, teaching, and recruitment are essential.
