Job Summary
Tennessee College of Applied Technology Knoxville is accepting applications for a part-time adjunct instructor position in machine tool technology. This position will work mainly with high school students in Anderson County and work less than 30 hours per week.
Job Duties
- Thorough knowledge of the principles and practices in the Machine Tool Technology occupation; knowledge of materials, tools, and equipment used; considerable knowledge of the principles and methods of good teaching and supervision, as evidenced by a rating of education and experience. Physically able to lift, stoop, stand, and walk to demonstrate and perform all work-based projects required. Ability to administer written and performance tests to measure progress and maintain student records and attendance in a timely manner. Ability to deal tactfully with students, the public, and co-workers; ability to exercise good judgment in evaluating situations and making decisions; to express ideas clearly, concisely, and convincingly; and ability to plan and direct the work of others. Assist in the recruitment and placement of students. - (Essential)
Minimum Qualifications
• Minimum of post-secondary diploma of an associate degree in Machine Tool Technology or related field from an accredited technical training program
• Three (3) years of full-time, related work experience as a machinist
• Must have knowledge of and ability to operate conventional machinist and computer numerical controlled (CNC) equipment
• Must commit to remain current in the machinist field and maintain program accrediting status
Preferred Qualifications
• NIMS and/or industry certification
• Teaching experience
• Knowledge of Tennessee Board of Regents (TBR) policies and procedures
• Skill in managing deadlines and working in a team-oriented environment
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
• The candidate must be a good communicator with effective verbal and written skills and be able to organize and provide theoretical and practical instructional activities.
• Ability to exercise good judgment in evaluating situations and making decisions
• Ability to maintain an effective working relationship with students, the public, and other employees
• Strong customer service skills
• Computer skills, including general Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook knowledge.
