Physical Requirements

The physical requirements of this position include: occasionally lifting, pushing, and/or pulling objects up to and over 25lbs; occasionally standing or walking with objects up to 15lbs; sitting at a computer workstation for extended periods of time while performing repetitive motions (such as typing); standing for extended periods of time, sometimes greater than 5 hours per day; and traversing several miles across and on campus for meetings and work on a regular basis.



Shift

Primarily 8:00am – 4:30pm; Monday through Friday; some weekend and/or holiday requirement per department need.



Job Summary

The Markey Precision Medicine Pharmacist Coordinator would provide support for pharmacogenomic, genetic, and clinical research programs at the Markey Cancer Center (MCC). This pharmacist supports the research mission of MCC by providing comprehensive medicine management services for oncology patients enrolled in early phase clinical trials. This pharmacist will assist in overseeing preparation and dispensing of chemotherapy (oral and IV) for the Early Phase Clinical Trials Center (ECT) and work with the Director of the Early Phase Clinical Trials Center (ECT) to develop standard operating procedures and workflows for the ECT. 



This pharmacist will also collaborate with the Director of the ECT to implement and develop oncology pharmacy practice based research and provide support to operationalizing clinical trials through committee involvement, review of order set development, and if time allows, work with clinicians to develop LOIs and assist on providing molecular data relevant for MCC investigations.

This pharmacist will participate in the Molecular Tumor Board (MTB) and will serve as a liaison between MTB and other pharmacy teams (eg, UK Specialty Pharmacy to facilitate off-label approvals). This pharmacist will be a pharmacogenomic and tumor genetics resource for MCC faculty and pharmacy colleagues through advancing and maintaining their knowledgebase. Lastly, this program coordinator will develop an early phase clinical trials or pharmacogenetics research rotation and serve as a clinical instructor for PharmD students and Oncology PGY2 residents.



Skills / Knowledge / Abilities

The ideal candidate will have strong written and verbal communication skills; knowledge of clinical research trial management; understanding of inpatient/outpatient pharmacy workflows; and knowledge of pharmacy and healthcare related regulations and standards.
