We are seeking a seasoned Principal Mechanical Engineer to advance the design and development of our next-generation mobile robot systems. In this role, you will be a key member of our Hardware R&D organization. You will drive the technical vision and execution of complex robotic systems, from concept through commercialization. Your exceptional leadership, problem-solving abilities, and deep industry expertise will be instrumental in delivering groundbreaking solutions.

What you’ll do
- Technical Leadership: Provide strategic direction and technical leadership for complex mechanical engineering projects.
- Design and Development: Oversee the design, development, and validation of innovative electromechanical systems.
- Mentorship: Mentor a high-performing engineering team.
- Problem-Solving: Lead complex problem-solving efforts, identifying innovative solutions and overcoming technical challenges.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Foster strong partnerships with electrical, controls, manufacturing, and quality engineering teams.
- Project Planning: Assist in building program plans and schedules to meet project milestones.
- Innovation: Drive innovation by exploring new technologies and design concepts.
- Hands-on Engineering: Actively participate in prototyping, building, testing, and iterating on designs.
- Documentation: Create and maintain comprehensive design documentation, including Bills of Materials (BOMs), detailed drawings and specifications per ANSI Y14.5 standards.
- Up to 15% of travel may be required.
What you’ll need
- Bachelor's degree or higher in Mechanical Engineering with minimum 12 years of relevant industry experience.
- Proven track record of bringing complex mechanical engineering projects from concept to commercialization.
- Deep expertise in electromechanical systems design, including component sizing, material selection, and manufacturing processes.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a focus on root cause analysis.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Expertise in CAD software (SolidWorks preferred) and intermediate experience with FEA tools (SolidWorks Simulation or Ansys).
- Expertise in creating detailed dimensional drawings per ANSI Y14.5 standards using GD&T.
- Knowledge of robotics, automation, and related industry standards.
- Proven ability to work effectively as part of a team.
Our environment
- Up to15% of travel may be required. Employees must have a valid driver’s license and the ability to drive and/or fly to client and other customer locations.
- The employee is responsible for owning a credit card and managing expenses personally to be reimbursed bi-weekly.
