Position Summary:

As a Research & Development (R&D) Technician, you will become an expert in confectionery technology and equipment while supporting and conducting specialized tasks to test, analyze, and improve processes and equipment for confectionery products.

You’ll work cross-functionally to coordinate pilot plant activities, assist with test plans, production startups, and line trials. You will also play a keyrole in conducting sensory and chemical analysis of raw materials forprocess, product and ingredient improvements.

Location: Bethlehem, PA

How You’ll Impact Results:

1.     Product Development: Prepare product concepts, test samples, and sales samples, and maintain accurate records of project details, formulas, and specifications.

2.     Product Scale-up: Assist in scaling up products from lab to production, contributing to documentation of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).

3.     Testing & Analysis: Identify opportunities to improve quality, stability, efficiency, and/or costs.

4.     Trial Coordination: Support product and process trials with R&D Scientists, document work and process updates, and participate in result evaluations.

5.     Lab Operations: Coordinates lab and pilot plant activities, including maintaining raw materials and equipment inventory, organizing materials, and sanitation of equipment.

6.     Communication: Use clear, effective communication (written & verbal) to ensure accurate project outcomes.

7.     Equipment Knowledge: Develop in-depth knowledge of pilot plant and processing equipment, document operating methods, and handle maintenance requests.

8.     Technical Learning: Build knowledge of confectionery technology, food safety principles, and SOPs.

9.     Additional Tasks: Perform other related duties as assigned.

Your Qualifications That Will Ensure Success:

·        Education: B.S. in Food Science or related scientific field.

·        Experience: 1+ years in Product Development, Research & Development (R&D) or related role, preferably within the confectionary, food, or beverage industry

·        Skills: Strong cross-functional teamwork, planning, accountability, and customer focus

·        Knowledge: Familiar with confectionery products, equipment, and analytical equipment

·        Project Management: Thorough understanding and knowledge of project management best practices

·        Equipment: Knowledge of lab, pilot plant, and manufacturing equipment
