Job Synopsis
The MCC Research Intern is a part-time, term position in the planning, learning and disaster response department (PLDR). PLDR facilitates learning and supports planning, monitoring and evaluation across MCC’s program. This position will support the collection and analysis of global impact data and the development of MCC impact reporting. This position will also conduct research related to monitoring and evaluation tools, methods and best practices.This position is supervised by the PLDR co-director for planning and learning and requires close collaboration with PLDR research analyst. The position is part-time and up to 120 hours total between late April and early June 2023. Due to the short-term nature of this position, relocation policies and benefit package do not apply.

- Enrolled in, or recently completed, a university program in a related field (e.g., international development, peacebuilding, sociology, history, etc.).
- Strong research and data analysis skills
- Able to summarize complex information clearly in written form
- Proficient using MS Excel and Word programs
- Knowledge of project monitoring and evaluation is an asset
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
- Organized and able to meet deadlines
Key Responsibilities
Contact/Relationships:
This position requires the person to frequently work closely as a team and to communicate with PLDR staff both in Canada and the United States as well as some interaction with MCC Country Representatives. Excellent oral and written communication skills are required to share information with staff.Supervision:
No supervisory responsibilities.Complexity/Competencies:
Requires good verbal and writing skills and good relational skills. Requires a high level of attention to detail, ability to complete tasks in a timely fashion and problem solve as needed. Ability to navigate online data base systems and feel confident with using technology and MS software.Independent Action:
This position requires a self-motivated individual, able to prioritize and take initiative independently, as well as work within a team.Communication/Interpersonal Skills:
This position requires good written and verbal communication skills for working within a team environment.
Mental/Physical/Visual Demand:
This position will be desk-based with significant computer usage.End Result:
Reliable tracking of project information and data gathering that will inform MCC’s annual impact reporting.
Major Responsibilities:
100% AdministrativeTasks:
- Ensure that the Gospel of Jesus Christ is exemplified in the performance of all job responsibilities and through personal example.
- Model non-violent peacemaking through daily interactions with staff and the public.
- Participate in a local church and gatherings, being willing to use his or her gifts within the local faith community.
- Gather and compile output and outcome data on MCC’s global program for annual reporting
- Provide analysis on trends in output data
- Review project reports to ensure outcomes are monitored using pre-defined indicators
- Assist department staff in compiling outcome information for sample projects in each program sector
- Develop report with annual output and outcome information for the wider MCC system, including some sector wide outcomes for MCC’s annual report
- Compile summaries of new or notable projects in each programming sector in the upcoming year for use by communications and donor relations department
- Research monitoring and evaluation best practices, tools and methods for internal resource development
