As a research and instruction librarian, you will promote library resources and services, help develop library collections, and facilitate scholarly, creative engagements. You will plan and lead library instruction for undergraduate and graduate students while collaborating with faculty and staff to connect student needs to relevant resources, skills, and information literacy goals. You will provide research and reference assistance through various methods — including in-person, over the telephone, and email — focusing on excellent customer service and thorough, accurate communication. You will be responsible for developing outreach programs and engaging the SCAD community with library resources and services. You will provide coverage for circulation, reference desk, special collections, and reading room staff. You will also assist in maintaining statistics and assessments of research, reference, instruction, and outreach services.

In this position, you will develop an in-depth knowledge of library resources and services to advise and assist students, faculty, and staff. You will identify and facilitate partnerships with various departments and groups at SCAD, contribute to the library's social media presence, and manage online research guides, tutorials, and other instructional resources. Similarly, you are responsible for identifying and evaluating current and emerging technologies that support research and instructional services. You will participate in team-based collection development through the selection and recommendation of resources in art and design subjects, evaluate and gather feedback on current and potential library resources, and contribute to an environment of continuous improvement by exchanging ideas and feedback in all service areas.

The successful candidate will plan and provide library instruction that incorporates best practices in information literacy. They should also have superior verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills and be proactive in their work to advance the department, library, and university.
