How will you make an impact in this role?

The individual will be required to collaborate with numerous partners including Amex application teams, infrastructure support teams, Database administrator team and various product and support vendors.

Organizational Context: Member of a database management or database support team reporting to Engineering Director, or Director of Service Delivery.

We are looking for a highly skilled and self-motivated senior developer to provide solutions for the internal and external automation efforts driven by the team. In this role, you will be part of a development team responsible for identifying cases for automation in the database area, building reusable and rapidly deployable automations solutions to optimize and reduce manual efforts of DBA tasks.

You will be joining our global technology’s Database Operations team in American Express as a software developer focus on automation.

Responsibilities:

  • Understand database administration tasks, monitoring tools, flows and identify opportunities for automation
  • Partners with existing developers and DBO leads to understand team’s automation needs and build and test new products and features
  • Help drive a multi-year software development plan, prioritize, and track deliverables
  • Translate user requirements into functioning UI experience
  • Design features, solve problems, debug, document and develop software and systems that meet the needs of internal and external users
  • Build reusable cross platform components, reusable scripts, front-end libraries, and back-end API’s for integrating with dozens of internal Amex systems
  • Create test automation frameworks for routine DBA tasks
  • Make collaboration essential through detailed code reviews and knowledge sharing with the team
  • Put emphasis on reusing modules that others have already built on the One Amex platform

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Computer Science Engineering, or related field.
  • 4+ years of Full-stack engineering experience in building web applications revolving around technologies such as JavaScript, React JS, Node JS, Spring boot, etc.
  • 3+ years of development experience with ansible, python, shell scripting and bash
  • 3+ years of experience with CI/CD tools including GIT, Jenkins
  • Experience in developing front-end applications using React, Redux, and JavaScript
  • In-depth knowledge and experience with Application Design, building Microservices, Testing capabilities, and RESTful API design and implementations.
  • Experience with DBMS (Postgres, Oracle) is plus
  • Good understanding on db monitoring tools like Oracle Enterprise Manager, Pg Admin, SQL developer is plus
  • Experience in infrastructure as code (IaC) tools such as Terraform, CloudFormation, Ansible
  • Experience with one or more logging and monitoring tools like Splunk, Dynatrace, Prometheus is a plus
  • Experience with monitoring and observability tools is a plus (ELF, Splunk, Prometheus, Grafana)
  • Hands-on coding experience with One App and One Data is a plus
  • Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate effectively with team members

Experience in one of the public cloud platforms like AWS, GCP, and/or Azure is preferred

Salary Range: $110,000.00 to $150,000.00 annually + bonus + benefits
