Qualifications:
NJ Teacher of the Handicapped Certification
OR
NJ Teacher of Students with Disabilities AND either NJ Middle School English Language Arts in Grades 5 - 8 and/or NJ Middle School Social Studies in Grades 5 - 8
In-depth knowledge of and experience with the NJ Student Learning Standards
Experience writing and implementing Individualized Education Plans
Effective communication and collaboration skills
Proven ability to promote student success, provide effective support, and respond to identified student needs
Extra duties as assigned by the building Principal and Supervisor of Pupil Services
All alternate route candidates (“Certificate of Eligibility) must show completion of 50 hours of pre-service training through a DOE approved CE educator program prior to being interviewed for a position. The certificate of completion must be uploaded into the AppliTrack portal in order for alternate route candidates to be considered. *In accordance with S-414/A-3188 (http://www.njleg.state.nj.us/2018/Bills/S0500/414_R2.HTM), school districts, charter schools, nonpublic schools, and contracted service providers (“employers”) are required to review the last twenty years of employment history of prospective employees to ascertain allegations of child abuse or sexual misconduct. It explicitly prohibits such employers from hiring a person serving in a position which involves regular contact with students unless the employer conducts a review of the employment history of the applicant by contacting former and current employers and requesting information regarding child abuse and sexual misconduct allegations.
