Job Summary / General Purpose:

*This is a remote role out of CT or RI* Provide regional project management and engineering oversight for Sprague’s operational assets in Connecticut and Rhode Island. Work with the Engineering Team, Operations Management, and terminal personnel to maintain Sprague’s assets and ensure sustained readiness and reliability in compliance with all federal, state, local and internal Sprague operating requirements. Work with Materials Handling and Refined Products business units to develop and execute project scopes for new growth opportunities.

Major Duties / Responsibilities:

• Coordinate with the Engineering Team to assess infrastructure and equipment requirements through formal and informal inspection programs and develop long-term capital and strategic recommendations to maintain assets in full compliance with federal, state and local regulations and within Sprague guidelines.
• Provide engineering project management support for major expansion projects and to terminal managers during construction and repairs to facility tanks, pipelines, marine structures, electrical and mechanical systems.
• Develop detailed cost estimates for maintenance and expansion projects. Work with contractors and engineers to establish work scopes and solicit bids. Review and approve engineering plans & drawings and meet with contractors and engineers prior to startup to discuss the layout and expectations for projects.
• Track progress of each project against goals, objectives, approved budgets and schedule. Reports status and variances. Develop detailed work plans, schedules, project estimates, resource plans and status reports. Works with contractors to assure adherence to schedule and budget.
• Interface with project controls personnel to ensure completion within budget and on schedule. Provide monthly updates of capital project forecasts to ensure that costs remain within authorization limits.
• Coordinate key asset inspections including storage tank, pipeline and dock inspections. Conduct, as necessary, Engineering analysis either in-house or through third party engineering firms.
• Respond to emergencies by providing engineering support to Operations Management and terminal personnel.
• Assist in the expansion of Sprague’s product line and support terminal acquisition and integration through due diligence, capital needs assessments, expense and personnel planning and environmental compliance program support. Provide support to marketing projects throughout all phases of design, development and implementation.
• Greater than 25% travel required.

Education / Experience / Skill Requirements:

• Seven years of experience in engineering or construction management within the petroleum, energy, material handling, marine, or power generation industries required.
• Specific experience in project management with direct responsibility for large-scale projects is preferred.
• Bachelor’s degree in an Engineering discipline (Mechanical, Electrical, Marine, or Civil), construction management, or related field required.
• Successful track record of project execution. Demonstrated ability to identify project risks, develop risk mitigation and contingency plans, and implement action plans to reduce or eliminate risks.
• Ability to successfully assess capital requirements and implement long-term upgrades within a structured compliance program.
• Demonstrated organizational and project management skills with the ability to handle multiple simultaneous projects.
• Strong computer skills including Engineering Applications, MS Office Suite and Project Management software.
• Strong analytical, communication and presentation skills.
• Self-starter with demonstrated record of pro-active contributions and ability to successfully implement company goals.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Ability to pass a background check and obtain a TWIC (Transportation Worker Identification Credential)
