Under broad supervision, managing, supporting, and optimizing Georgia Department of Public Health's electronic health record (EHR), and all affiliated applications interfacing with the EHR. This individual will ensure the EHR system's integrity, security, and functionality to support clinical and operational workflows. The role requires a blend of technical, healthcare, and administrative expertise to maintain compliance with the regulatory standards and improve system efficiency.

Job Responsibilities

  • Responsible for all phases of database management, design, and administration of Georgia Department of Public Health's EHR system.
  • Monitor system backups, updates, and patches to ensure the system is secure and up-to-date.
  • Collaborate with IT staff, clinical departments, and external vendors to resolve technical issues and ensure seamless system integration.
  • Collaborate with clinical and administrative teams to customize workflows within the EHR to meet the needs of the programs within Georgia Department of Public Health.
  • Identify opportunities for EHR system improvements to enhance clinical efficiency and client care outcomes.
  • Create and optimize EHR reports to streamline documentation and data retrieval processes.
  • Creates, maintains, and updates, in conjunction with the EHR Trainer, an issue knowledgebase to document technical support issues and associated resolution approaches as part of proactive approaches to problem management.
  • Attends and/or participates in relevant vendor trainings and/or user community meetings within the EHR.
  • Develop and implement policies and procedures for the The EHR system, such as user access, data entry, documentation, and workflow.
  • Ensure the EHR system complies with all relevant regulations and standards, including HIPAA, HITECH, and other applicable behavioral health or substance abuse recovery standards.
  • Monitor system security and privacy protocols to safeguard client data and ensure adherence to privacy and confidentiality regulations.

Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma/GED and two (2) years of experience at the lower level Systems Administrator 2 (ITP041) or position equivalent.

Additional Information

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Advanced knowledge of Windows operating systems and troubleshooting.
  • Experience with cloud platforms and supporting software applications.
  • Experience with numerous Microsoft administrative applications such as Active Directory, Azure Active Directory, Office 365, DNS, DHCP, IIS, etc.
  • Experience and knowledge of best practices regarding backup processes using backup appliances, such as Unitrends
  • Intermediate to Advanced knowledge of SQL querying
  • Experience with MS SQL server and/or Oracle administration
  • Microsoft SQL Server and/or Oracle: 2 years (Preferred)
  • Familiarity with SAN, IIS, Azure and AWS (Preferred)
  • Strong problem-solving skit.ls and attention to detail.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks/tickets by field requests.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to explain technical issues to non-technical stakeholders effectively.
  • Experience with issue-tracking software.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Customer-focused mindset with a commitment to providing high-quality support.
  • Availability to work on-call or during off-hours as needed to support hospital IT operations.
  • Adaptability and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
  • Advanced knowledge of Windows operating systems.
  • Experience with networking, including installation, configuration, and management of networks is preferred.



Salary range

  • $62,331 - $81,955 per year
