Description: 

The Department of the Humanities is seeking applications for a 1-year (non-tenure track) Visiting Assistant Professor for Academic Year 2024-2025. There may be possibility for renewal. The Department of the Humanities offers majors in Philosophy, Theology, Literature, History, and Political Science, as well as courses in Sociology and Foreign Languages and interdisciplinary minors in Pre-Law and Women and Gender Studies. Applications are encouragedfrom candidates whose background or areas of expertise are cross-disciplinary and who will embrace the mission of our interdisciplinary department.The ideal candidate will have a Ph.D. or be ABDwith intended completionby August 2025 in one of the following disciplines: 

  • Philosophy
  •  Theology
  •  Literature
  • History
  •  Political Science

Successful candidates will have a record of teaching and scholarly productivity commensurate with experience. Preference will be given to candidates with experience teaching a variety of undergraduate courses. 

Responsibilities: 

Contractual teaching load is 4/4. The successful candidate will be expected to teach undergraduate courses currently in our academic catalog ranging from introductory through capstone levels. In the Fall semester, one section of the First-Year Search Seminar course will be included as a part of the contractual load. 

Eligibility: 

Applicants must either hold a Ph.D. or show evidence that the degree will be completed by August 15, 2025.
