Women's Basketball Coach
Columbia State Community College seeks a passionate Women’s Basketball Coach to lead a competitive program. This 10-month role includes coaching, recruiting, organizing practices, managing budgets, and fostering student-athlete success both academically and athletically.

Important Information:
Job Purpose: Develop a highly competitive women’s basketball program, consistent with the student athlete philosophy of TCCAA/NJCAA Division I, which generates college and community enthusiasm and support.
Essential Functions:
- Serve as women’s head basketball coach including recruiting, organization of practice, game scheduling, management of operating, travel and scholarship budgets, and promotion of program.
- Participate in athletic fundraising and community service events.
- Monitor women’s basketball student-athlete progress including class attendance, academic performance, personal adjustment, and financial aid management.
- Serve as the academic advisor for women basketball athletes.
- Coordinate and monitor student study, athletic tutoring and classroom performance for retention and graduation purposes.
- Promote student athletes by sending film and stats to four-year institutions.
- Supervise the part-time assistant basketball coach or coaches.
- Collect and input accurate statistics and information.
- Work closely with staff to schedule personal and team travel.
- Organize and maintain equipment inventory.
- Adhere to all NJCAA (National Junior College Athletic Association), Columbia State, and TCCAA (Tennessee Community College Athletic Association) rules and policies.
- Model sportsmanship and maintain appropriate conduct towards players, officials, and spectators.
- Implement summer camps.
- Stay up to date with safety protocols, CPR certification/training, and other health related aspects of your sport.
- Assist with the coordination and implementation of the intramural sports program.
- Actively participate in all college-wide recruitment and retention activities.
- Teach one or more credit classes per semester.
Supplemental Functions:
- Serve on college committees
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Vice President for Student Services and Enrollment Management.
- Other duties as assigned.
Job Specifications:
Education, Training and Experience Required:
Master’s degree required in an academic discipline taught at Columbia State. Prefer at least two years of basketball coaching at the community college level and one year of high school or college-level student services experience.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Work Characteristics
- Above average communication and public relations skills.
- Ability to relate to a diverse faculty, staff and student population.
- Knowledge in coaching basketball skills and strategies.
- Good recruiting skills and ability to monitor players both academically and athletically.
- Adhere to FERPA guideline for dissemination of student records and information.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize projects and tasks.
- Must be willing to work a flexible schedule including some evening and weekend hours.
- Proficient in basic computer skills for daily workflow (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.).
- Cooperate as a team player to achieve department, division, and organizational goals.
Working Conditions:
1. Day, evening and night activities including weekends.
2. Light to moderate lifting
Titles Supervised:
One Assistant Coach (if available) and student workers as assigned.
Hiring Salary Range: $39,040-$46,840
This position is based at the Columbia, TN Campus.
