Education Faculty Member

This is a full-time twelve-month position reporting to the Dean of Arts, Sciences, and Technologies. The director will be responsible for overseeing assigned course programming to incarcerated students. The director will collaborate with faculty and staff in the division and college to implement educational opportunities to students who are incarcerated.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Participate in planning, developing, implementing and evaluating the Correctional Education Initiative curriculum at DSCC.
Possess a comprehensive understanding of guidelines and regulations set forth by TN Department of Corrections to ensure compliance.
Become certified in and fully use the course management system for all courses delivered to incarcerated students.
Participate in professional and committee activities including serving on College committees as assigned by the Dean.
Meet with incarcerated students weekly to twice weekly at all of the off-site correctional facilities.
Collaborate with distance education and academic departments to facilitate learning within the security limitations set forth by the Tennessee Department of Corrections.
Facilitate and monitor student enrollment progress, persistence, and completion by serving as the academic advisor to incarcerated students.
In consultation with the dean, chairs, and faculty, assist in the preparation of course schedules to keep incarcerated student cohorts on track for completion.
Mediate resolution of conflicts between students and faculty in consultation with the Academic Dean and the Dean of Student Services.
Monitor and evaluate each course shell before it is sent to CEI+ to ensure compliance.
Provide direct service to students in-person and online to meet student needs.
Complete Master Advisor training.
Collaborate with stakeholders across the college to ensure program success
Collaborate with Student Services staff to assist formerly incarcerated students as they transition to re-entry.
Serve as the budget manager for the CEI Program, ensuring compliance with grant goals, restrictions, and parameters.
Represent DSCC at all correctional education initiative conferences and meetings by working closely with the Tennessee Board of Regents CEI Program Director(s) and associated third- party partners.
Prepare and submit reports and contracts associated with the CEI program.
Work with the Director of Admissions &amp; Records to plan and execute commencement exercises at the correctional facilities.
Perform other duties as assigned.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Sedentary: Desk work; travel will be required weekly/bi-weekly for each correctional facility. Insignificant effort other than normal movement. Must be able to lift 50 lbs.

Job Summary
• The candidate is responsible for teaching all phases of the program to include theory and practical instruction of the curriculum. • Develop, plan, and prepare a complete progressive course of study, lesson plans, assignments, and instructional aids. Other duties include curriculum development and updates, student record keeping, student recruitment, placement and follow-up. • Monitors conduct, safety, and discipline during training. • Provide motivation to students. • Assist with placement of students in the workforce. • Participate in recruiting and evaluating students for programs. • Participate in professional development activities, including cooperating with outside agencies and program advisory committees. Continue personal training and professional development to stay abreast of changes in the industry. • Must maintain an active advisory committee and communicate with business and industry on a regular basis. • Must monitor and evaluate student progress; accurately maintain program and student record • Other duties as assigned.

• High school diploma, HiSET (required), Technical Diploma preferred, post-secondary training in Pipefitting and Plumbing or related field. • Journeyman Pipefitter/Plumber (minimum 5 years required) • NCCER Pipe Fitter Certification (preferred).

Job Summary:
This position is responsible for delivering quality instruction using integrative technologies. Faculty are expected to provide academic advising to students and participate in college, department and community activities related to the College’s mission.
Job Duties:
Teach 28-32 hours per academic year via on ground, online, hybrid or web-enhanced modalities as assigned. Teach evening, weekend, off-campus, dual enrollment and distance-based courses as required. Develop curriculum, evaluate and review of credit and non-credit courses. Evaluate and monitor progress to achieve goals and objectives (and those by any licensing, registering or certifying agency as applicable); assist with affiliation and accreditation efforts. Recruit and advise students and support persistence/progression through graduation. Maintain office hours and availability to students. Complete required College trainings. Complete all required reports such as attendance, Early Alerts, progress reports, grade submissions and administer and return surveys by the required deadlines. Attend college, department, and faculty meetings. Serve on college and department committees. Attend professional development activities. Participate in community service. Minimum Qualifications:
Master’s degree in Physics from an accredited institution or a Master’s degree plus 18 graduate hours in Physics from an accredited institution.
Preferred Qualifications:
Collegiate level teaching experience.

Knowledge and/or experience using a variety of instructional delivery modes. Ability to communicate effectively and work cooperatively with a diverse faculty, staff, and student population. Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
Pay Rate: $41,297 - $51,618 annual salary depending on experience
